3. Production Performance

The Huoyan goose is a small-sized goose with high egg production, cold tolerance, and abundant down and feathers. Adult male geese weigh 3.7-4.4 kg, and female geese weigh 3.1-3.8 kg. At 90 days of age, body weight is 3-4 kg, and the eviscerated carcass yield of market-ready young geese is 70-72%. Mating is best at 210-240 days of age. Grazing female geese lay an average of 80 eggs per year, and can reach 120-130 eggs when rearing conditions are good. The eggshell is white, with an average weight of 120-130 g. Female geese have poor broodiness, so artificial incubation is mostly used. The average weight of the fatty liver of the Huoyan goose is 324.6 g, with the largest being 515 g, and the liver-to-feed ratio is 1:41. The male-to-female ratio for breeding is 1:5-7, the fertilization rate is about 85%, and the hatchability rate is 80-85%.
