What are the measures to prevent sheep diseases in the hot season?
1. Strengthen feeding management. In summer, sheep have lower disease resistance and are prone to illness. To improve the disease resistance of sheep, ensure that sheep are supplied with sufficient nutrients and a reasonably balanced daily ration, and feed concentrate once each morning and evening, with 0.2-0.5 kg per adult sheep. Feeding should be done at fixed times and in fixed amounts to prevent excessive or insufficient nutrients. It is strictly forbidden to feed toxic, moldy, or contaminated feed. Clean drinking water should be provided promptly and sufficiently. In summer, grazing should start early and finish late, and sheep should be allowed to rest more at noon to prevent heatstroke. The sheep shed should be fitted with screen doors and screen windows to prevent mosquito and fly bites.
2. Do a good job of environmental sanitation and disinfection. Summer is the season when bacteria and viruses multiply and spread in large numbers. To prevent the breeding and spread of bacteria and viruses, the sheep shed, the sheep activity area, and the equipment should be kept clean and dry. Manure and filth in the pen should be cleaned every day and piled for fermentation. The sheep shed and equipment should be disinfected once a week with Baidusha disinfectant or Weidao disinfectant, and the floor of the sheep shed and exercise yard should be disinfected once every half month with a 2%-4% caustic soda solution.
3. Do a good job of immunization injections. Immunization injection is an important measure to prevent and control sheep diseases. At present, there are many vaccines used for sheep infectious diseases, and the number and timing of immunization injections should be reasonably arranged according to the characteristics of various vaccines and the local incidence situation. Adult sheep should be injected once each in spring and autumn with the quadruple vaccine for sheep braxy, sheep sudden death, enterotoxemia, and sheep black disease, and with the sheep foot-and-mouth disease vaccine. Pregnant ewes should be injected with lamb dysentery vaccine 30-20 days before lambing. Before the beginning of summer, sheep should be injected with sheep pox vaccine, and 6-month-old sheep should be injected on time with sheep infectious pleuropneumonia vaccine.
4. Regular deworming. Sheep parasites are divided into two types: internal parasites and external parasites. Sheep parasites are @#@229@#@ a relatively common and especially serious disease in production. Mildly affected animals become weak and emaciated and their growth is stunted, while severe cases can cause large-scale death. Therefore, regular deworming is necessary. For internal parasites, use albendazole and avermectin for deworming in spring and autumn each year; for external parasites, apply a 1% trichlorfon solution by smearing or use a 0.05% phoxim solution for medicated bathing.
