What are the treatment methods for canine red mange?
Red mange is a common contagious disease spread by contact in animals, also known as demodicosis.
Symptoms: In the early stage of the disease, small areas of hair loss appear on the dog's face or the sides of the ears, along with itching. In the middle stage, there is localized hair loss on the abdomen and limbs, with frequent itching. In the later stage, the dog becomes listless, has a decreased appetite, discharge appears around both eyes, and the hairless areas develop red patches, inflammation and blisters; the affected dog becomes restless, experiences severe itching, and scratches its skin raw.
Treatment methods: (1) Choose trichlorfon, at a ratio of 5%, add an appropriate amount of lard, and mix it into an emulsified oil to rub on the affected areas, once a day, and it can be cured after 7 consecutive days. (2) Penicillin, injected intramuscularly at 60,000 units per kilogram of body weight, twice a day, with vitamin C added to the feed; betamethasone injected intramuscularly at 0.05 mg per kilogram of body weight, once a day, then subcutaneously inject acaricide, once a day, for 5 consecutive days, with remarkable results. (3) Sulfur powder 12 grams, quicklime 60 grams, add 750 grams of water, apply to the skin, and complete recovery can be achieved after 10 consecutive days.
