How to prevent chicken stress? Master these eight measures
Reduce stocking density. One set of equipment to support 100 adult chickens is relatively reasonable, and the stocking density per sq m should be 6~8 birds. After the flock is fixed, do not casually add new chickens to the group.
Be cautious when moving the flock or relocating to a new site. Moving the flock is best done at night. 2~3 days before moving, add an appropriate amount of antibiotics and multiple vitamins to the feed or drinking water. 1~2 hours before catching the chickens, add chlorpromazine to each kg of feed, 30 mg per chick, and 50 mg per adult chicken or growing chicken.
Carefully formulate feed. According to the age characteristics and nutritional needs of the chickens, use high-quality raw materials to prepare a complete formula feed that meets the requirements.
Change feed gradually. Changing feed requires a 2~3 week transition period. New feed should be added gradually and old feed reduced. It cannot be done all at once.
Control environmental conditions. The suitable temperature for adult chickens is 5°C~27°C, and the humidity is 60%~70%. The suitable temperature for laying eggs is 13°C~20°C. When natural light is insufficient in winter and spring, artificial lighting should be added. The light bulbs should be 2 m from the ground, spaced 3 m apart, and each bulb must not be larger than 60 watts.
Fix the management routine. The times for feeding, drinking water, turning on lights, turning off lights, removing manure, collecting eggs, semen collection, artificial insemination, etc. should be kept as fixed as possible, and do not casually replace the keeper.
Reduce immune stress. 3 days before vaccination, supplement the chickens with or provide drinking water containing anti-stress substances, such as electrolytic multivitamins, vitamin C, fumaric acid, etc.; during vaccination, movements should be gentle to avoid injuring the chickens or worsening the stress response.
Reduce debeaking stress. 2 days before debeaking, add vitamin K3 to the feed and drinking water, with an amount of 0.4 mg per kg of feed or drinking water. 2~3 days after debeaking, continue adding vitamin K3 and multivitamins to the drinking water and feed.
