How to improve sows' summer anestrus? Practical methods shared
Doing a good job in sow breeding is an important part of developing the @#@227@#@ industry and pig farming profits. Generally, multiparous sows 28 to 35 days after farrowing will naturally come into estrus and be mated within 3 to 5 days. But in summer and autumn, pigs are not easy to come into estrus. To enable sows to come into estrus and be mated normally after weaning, the following few measures can be taken.
Feed lactating sows well
In summer the temperature is high, sows fear heat, their appetite drops obviously, they cannot meet their nutritional needs, and the sows lose weight with poor body condition, which is the main reason sows do not come into estrus. Therefore, it is necessary to adjust the diet formula early, appropriately reduce energy feed, and increase the protein feed level. Increasing the protein in the diet to 17%~18% can not only meet their own nutritional needs but also guarantee the actual needs of lactation, increasing milk production by more than 12.5%. In the sow diet, if 34 g~36 g of lysine is added per sow, it can more effectively meet the needs of lactating sows for milk production and estrus. In the pig diet, the supply of minerals and vitamins must be guaranteed, and at the same time the feeding time of sows must be adjusted; the morning and evening feed amounts should account for 60% of the whole day's diet, and one nighttime feeding should be added to increase feed intake and water intake, ensuring that sows can maintain 70% to 80% body condition after weaning, which is beneficial to the normal estrus of weaned sows.
Do a good job in heat prevention and cooling for sows
When sows are in a high-temperature and high-humidity environment, it is difficult for the pig body to dissipate heat, body temperature rises, and the pig body's material metabolism is disturbed. The pig body obviously loses weight, and ovulation-stimulating hormone decreases, which is very unfavorable to sow estrus. Therefore, heat prevention and cooling must be done well, ventilation must be strengthened to create a good cool environment; when the temperature is too high, water should be sprinkled on the roof to cool it down, fans should be turned on, and the use of sprayers and water sprinklers together all have good cooling effects. In the sow diet, adding 0.1% vitamin C and 0.1%~0.5% baking soda water can prevent or reduce the harmful effects of heat stress.
Piglets should be weaned at the right time
Generally, piglets are best weaned at 25 to 30 days of age. Weaning piglets too early affects growth and development, while weaning piglets too late affects sow estrus. As long as timely weaning is mastered, the sow does not lose weight and has good body condition but is not too fat, which is beneficial to the normal estrus of the sow after weaning.
Treat birth canal infections in time
In summer when the weather is hot, the birth canal of postpartum sows is open and prone to infection and inflammation. The uterus should be flushed in time with 0.02%~0.04% potassium permanganate water, or flushed with 1% saline. Use 2~3 times in succession; if 3% iodine tincture can be applied to the cervix, the effect is even better. If there is inflammation or blood heat, 1.6 million units~2.5 million units of penicillin can be injected intramuscularly to reduce inflammation and treat bacteria, control infection, and also promote the natural estrus of sows.
Use hormones to induce estrus
For sows that do not come into estrus 28 to 35 days after farrowing, 350 units of luteinizing hormone can be injected intramuscularly, continuously injected 2~4 times, which can make the sow's follicles develop and mature, come into estrus and ovulate, with very good effect. Baijiu 0.1 kg plus 50 g~100 g brown sugar can also be used, taken once a day for several days in succession, and also has a certain effect.
Traditional Chinese medicine to induce estrus
For postpartum sows with anestrus, 7 g~15 g each of danggui (Angelica sinensis), shudi (prepared rehmannia), roucongrong (Cistanche deserticola), yinyanghuo (Epimedium), yangqishi (actinolite), baishao (white peony root), and yimucao (Leonurus japonicus) can be decocted in water and mixed into feed. Alternatively, 60 g~120 g of yimucao (Leonurus japonicus) and 120 g~250 g of chen aiye (aged mugwort leaf) can be decocted in water, the liquid taken and mixed with 250 g brown sugar, stirred evenly and administered by drenching, used for 2~3 doses in succession, mainly treating infertility in pigs caused by malnutrition.
