Golden autumn is the season for admiring chrysanthemums, and among ornamental chrysanthemums, single-stem chrysanthemums are the finest. To cultivate single-stem chrysanthemums, the following steps must be done well: Select a plant with excellent flower shape, flower color, and plant form, as well as a vigorous plant that has already flowered, as the mother plant, and strengthen the care of the old roots. To ensure the health of the next generation of cuttings, spray 500-800 times diluted chlorothalonil or carbendazim once every 2 weeks before harvesting cuttings. Golden autumn is the season for admiring chrysanthemums, and among ornamental chrysanthemums, single-stem chrysanthemums are the finest. To cultivate single-stem chrysanthemums, the following steps must be done well:

Select a plant with excellent flower shape, flower color, and plant form, as well as a vigorous plant that has already flowered, as the mother plant, and strengthen the care of the old roots. To ensure the health of the next generation of cuttings, spray 500-800 times diluted chlorothalonil or carbendazim once every 2 weeks before harvesting cuttings. Take vigorous young shoots from the second or third generation as cuttings.

Cuttings are best taken from late May to mid-to-late June. Choose a seedling pot or an eggshell clay pot as the cutting container, insert the cuttings into a sandy soil seedbed, water thoroughly to keep moist, provide ventilation and shade, roots will form after about 20 days, and then they can be transplanted.

Soil preparation: Before transplanting chrysanthemum seedlings, prepare the growing soil first. Use 2 parts garden soil plus 1 part leaf mold. Before preparation, every cubic meter of soil should be disinfected with 50 times diluted formalin before use.

Care: During normal care, regulate chrysanthemum growth by controlling fertilizer and water. Watering and fertilizing should be done in the morning; water thoroughly when the soil is dry, and watering in the evening is not necessary. Fertilization should be carried out according to different growth stages. During the seedling stage and in high-temperature seasons, the fertilizer solution concentration should be light and the amount small; after the Beginning of Autumn, chrysanthemums enter their peak growth period, so both the amount and concentration of fertilizer should be increased, fertilizing 2-3 times a week, while also combining with foliar feeding, spraying the leaves with 1000 times diluted urea solution twice a week; after late August, spray once a week with 1000 times diluted monopotassium phosphate solution.

Dwarfing: To control plant height, dwarfing agents can be used. Commonly, 1000 times diluted daminozide is sprayed on the leaves, preferably in the evening, once every 10-15 days, and spraying should stop once the plant shows flower buds.

Pinching: Pinching is very important for single-stem chrysanthemums. About 3 weeks after cutting, when the chrysanthemum seedlings have formed a root system, carry out the first pinching, removing the unopened top shoot and all side branches and side buds. Afterward, when new buds appear in the leaf axils at the top and grow 4-5 leaves, a second pinching can be carried out, keeping only 2-3 buds, and when flower buds appear, keep only 1 main bud. Pinching should be done on sunny days, and after each pinching, apply 1 dose of decomposed supplementary fertilizer. By autumn, you can enjoy single-stem chrysanthemums with large flowers, brilliant colors, and beautiful plant form.
