Efficient Meat Pigeon Breeding Management Techniques

Meat pigeon breeding is a major direction in pigeon farming. Meat pigeon meat is tender and delicious, rich in nutrition, and is a specialty dish in many restaurants and hotels. It is also welcomed by many people, so more and more people are now breeding meat pigeons on a large scale, and those who breed meat pigeons on a large scale certainly want to expand their breeding profits. So how should we do it? Below, the editor brings you the management techniques for efficient meat pigeon breeding. Let's take a look!

1. Artificial Pairing

When the young pigeons have grown to a certain extent, promptly identify the sex of the pigeons, then place male and female pigeons in pairs into pairing cages. Only one pair may be placed in each pairing cage, and after being placed in the pairing cage, they must be separated with a partition net for feeding to ensure normal drinking water and feed. When the pigeons become familiar with each other and approach one another, the partition net can be appropriately removed to allow them to mate.

2. Feed Management

Nutritional needs differ at different growth stages, and they also change depending on the breeding direction. For example, the feed for breeding pigeons differs from that for meat pigeons. When raising breeding pigeons, the feed should be appropriately changed to increase the proportion of protein and energy in the feed. Feed about twice a day. Energy feed for meat pigeons should account for more than half, every pigeon must be able to eat its fill, and health-promoting grit should also be appropriately fed to ensure sufficient drinking water.

3. Incubation Management

During the incubation period of meat pigeons, candling should be carried out at least twice to ensure the normal incubation of pigeon eggs, so that abnormal situations can be handled promptly. Nutrition during the incubation period is very important. Sufficient feed should be provided so that the meat pigeons can eat freely until they stop eating. Then clean up the leftover feed to promote the incubation of pigeon eggs, enhance the growth ability of the young pigeons, and ensure continuous and efficient breeding.

4. Nest Merging for Rearing

Under ordinary rearing conditions and without continuous feeding, a pair of pigeons can rear 2-3 squabs. Among those that laid only one egg, those that lost one during rearing leaving only one squab, or those whose breeding pigeons incubated again about half a month after hatching and abandoned them, the specifications should be properly controlled, and then they should be reared together according to growth progress, growth ability, and so on. After nest merging, the squabs that are not being reared can have their egg-laying time delayed, which can effectively increase the egg-laying rate.

5. Artificial Rearing

When raising squabs, the mother pigeon's rearing of the squabs should be ended as early as possible and artificial rearing should be carried out. This can delay the breeding pigeons' egg-laying time by 2-3 weeks and increase the egg-laying rate. Squabs can be fed skimmed milk powder and chick feed, and after about 2 weeks the feed should be changed to food feed. Add substances such as lysine and vitamins to the feed, and the number of feedings per day must not be less than two.

The above is a brief introduction to the management techniques for efficient meat pigeon breeding. Continuous and efficient breeding of meat pigeons is very important, as only in this way can your breeding economic benefits be guaranteed. That is all for today's introduction.
