        1. How to grow Oncidium orchids

When it comes to Oncidium orchids, those who know how to grow them say there is no difficulty, while those who don't find them hard to cultivate. In fact, once you understand the habits of Oncidium orchids, you'll find they are not difficult to grow at all.
Key point 1:Oncidium orchids belong to the epiphytic orchid group, meaning they can thrive without soil. Because of this, some growers plant them bare-rooted. If you want to use a growing medium, it is usually pure sphagnum moss, or a mix of wood shavings, granular orchid stone and a small amount of peat soil. When planting, the pseudobulbs must be left exposed, because they have aerial roots. If the pseudobulbs are buried, it is very difficult for them to grow vigorously, and producing new shoots will also be hard. This passage is described as a key point, so think it over carefully.
Key point 2:Air humidity, temperature and light: epiphytic orchids all share a common trait, which is that they love warm and humid environments, similar to the warm, humid and not-too-bright conditions inside a greenhouse. That kind of environment is their ideal growing condition. However, in home cultivation we naturally cannot achieve such conditions.
For growing Oncidium orchids at home, it is recommended to shade them in summer, and in other seasons just give them morning and evening sunlight. In simple terms, growing them in a semi-shaded environment is best, and they should not be given overly intense light. As for temperature, it is best not to let it drop below 13°C in winter, though this also depends on the variety. For example, some growers report that mini Oncidium orchids can tolerate temperatures as low as 3°C, so regarding temperature, it is recommended that growers use the conservative temperature as their guideline.
Although Oncidium orchids like humid environments, if the humidity is too high and ventilation is poor, they are also very prone to black spot. Therefore, try to increase ventilation while maintaining appropriate humidity.
Of course, growers may feel that there is no standard for how to maintain humidity or how to ventilate. When growing flowers, especially at home, there is no standard to speak of. When you see others' experience and understand it, try to learn from it, then observe your own plants and adjust appropriately. Gradually, you will get the hang of it.

        2. Essential knowledge about Oncidium orchids

Oncidium orchids belong to the Orchidaceae family, genus Oncidium (also known as the dancing-lady orchid genus), and are epiphytic orchids. "Oncidium" does not refer to a single species of orchid, but is the general term for plants in the genus Oncidium. They are native to the tropical regions of the Americas.
How many times a year do Oncidium orchids bloom?
Oncidium orchids bloom once a year, and each bloom lasts about 15-30 days. As for the blooming period, in most cases they bloom from October to December, but I have also seen some growers' Oncidium orchids bloom in February, April and so on. This is probably because the regions are different, so there will be some variation.
        Are Oncidium orchids fragrant?
It depends on the variety. Not all Oncidium orchids are fragrant. If you like a strong fragrance, it is best to ask clearly when you buy.
