How to raise blister beetles well

Blister beetles are insects of the family Meloidae, divided into the southern large blister beetle and the yellow-black small blister beetle. The blister beetle is also a kind of Chinese medicinal material, and it is distributed throughout various regions of our country, but most people are not very familiar with it. The main effects of the blister beetle are breaking blood and dispelling stasis, dissipating knots and eliminating masses, and attacking toxins and eroding sores. It is often used to treat diseases such as abdominal masses, amenorrhea, and stubborn tinea. So do you know how to breed blister beetles? Now follow the editor to learn about it below.

1. Breeding preparation

Before breeding blister beetles, we need to do a good job in selecting and building the breeding site, configuring the feeding equipment, and introducing the seed insects, and then we also need to be prepared to bear the breeding risks. The breeding site should be chosen in a relatively secluded place with convenient transportation, and secondly, the breeding resources should be abundant. The adults are mainly raised in cages, but we first still need to build a greenhouse or a single-story house. The area of the breeding site is determined according to the number of blister beetles being raised; generally, 1,000 to 1,500 blister beetles can be raised per cubic meter. Trim the breeding cages well and raise them in a three-dimensional manner. For larval breeding, it is only necessary to build the breeding site.

2. Adult breeding

For adult blister beetle breeding, we use the cage-raising method, and feeding, mating, egg laying, and hatching are all carried out in one place. Each breeding cage is generally about 0.4 cubic meters, and the number of male and female blister beetles must be equal. A layer of sandy loam soil about 15 to 20 cm thick needs to be spread on the bottom of the breeding cage. The feed for adult blister beetles is mainly the flowers of leguminous and cucurbitaceous plants, fed once each morning and evening, with the feeding times at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. During the breeding process, sanitation cleaning needs to be carried out irregularly, and the humidity in the breeding cage should be reasonably controlled.

3. Larval breeding

For larval blister beetle breeding, we usually use the mountain-raising method. Under normal circumstances, blister beetle larvae hatch around September, so at the beginning of October they need to be placed in the mountains for breeding. If they have not hatched by October, then artificial indoor breeding is needed. For mountain raising of larvae, we do not need to carry out too much management; they usually feed, grow, and develop on their own.

4. Precautions

The blister beetle itself is actually a kind of wild insect, and it has a strong ability to adapt to the environment. It can grow and reproduce in most areas of our country. What we need to pay attention to is that, in order to prevent adult insects from escaping, we need to take anti-escape measures. Secondly, the adult rearing period is generally between one and a half months and two months, and then they will lay eggs. Also, during the breeding process, the humidity in the breeding cage should be around 15 percent. Finally, attention should be paid to the selection of feed, and pesticides should also be avoided so as not to poison the blister beetles.

The above are the breeding methods for blister beetles. I believe everyone has gained a certain understanding of blister beetle breeding. In fact, breeding blister beetles is very simple. Generally, anyone who knows a little about breeding can raise them well, but we must stay away from crop planting areas and polluted areas, otherwise breeding failure is a very normal thing.
