Several common problems in quail farming

Nowadays, quail are generally used to produce quail eggs, and secondarily as meat quail for consumption. And we all know that quail eggs are a highly nutritious health egg, and their market price is also relatively high. At the same time, quail meat is also very popular and often appears in major hotels; of course, quail meat is also a relatively rare wild game. In recent years, the number of people raising quail has been constantly increasing, so what problems often arise when raising quail? Let's take a look below.

1. Green droppings

There are two reasons why adult quail pass green droppings. The first reason is relatively normal, which is that during this period the quail have eaten too much green feed, so the droppings they pass are also green, and this is healthy. But if the droppings are green without feeding more green feed, then attention needs to be paid. It is very likely to be an intestinal infection caused by improper feed selection, with too many bacilli in the intestine, and the droppings passed are green. At this time, we can treat it with quail ulcerative enteritis, and the usage and dosage should refer to the instructions.

2. Thin, soft, easily broken eggshells

The quail eggshells laid by quail are very thin, or soft-shelled quail eggs appear. Such quail eggs are very easily broken, and are also not conducive to storage and sale. And this problem appearing when quail are laying eggs is also very common in the breeding process, just as poultry such as chickens, ducks, and geese also have this situation. This is mainly caused by a lack of the calcium element, so what we need to do is appropriately add some bone meal or use feed with a high calcium content.

3. Half yolks appearing and low egg production rate

Some quail eggs have only half a yolk, and this is also a very common phenomenon. The main reason for this phenomenon is that nutrition cannot keep up. When the feed mix is unreasonable, it leads to nutritional imbalance, which causes this kind of deformed egg. And this kind of quail egg with only half a yolk is not easy to sell, and its economic price will not be too high either, so what we need to do is promptly and reasonably mix the feed, maintain nutritional balance, and appropriately increase concentrated feed.

4. Vomiting blood

Some quail will vomit blood from their mouths after dying, and this is also a problem often encountered during the raising process. And quail vomiting blood after death is not any serious illness; one of the main reasons is caused by the breeding environment. Quail is a relatively timid creature, so perhaps a very small action, such as keeping cats, dogs, chickens, ducks, and other creatures in the breeding site, can startle the quail when they call, causing an extreme stress reaction, and in severe cases death, after which they vomit blood. So the breeding site must be built in a quiet place, do not let strangers enter and exit the breeding room at will, slow down and soften movements when feeding, and do not raise other animals, so as to avoid frightening them.

The above are several of the most common problems in quail farming, and these are all relatively detailed matters, so many farmers, under inadvertent circumstances, will fall into breeding misunderstandings and cause breeding failure.
