Daily Management of Black Pig Farming

Black pigs have a domestication history of nearly 5000 years in China. Unlike domestic pigs, black pigs grow slowly and weigh less, but they have a high lean meat rate, and their meat is delicious, tender and juicy. They are a pig breed with relatively high economic value, and black pigs are mainly farmed on a large scale in Northeast China. However, farming black pigs requires good daily management work. Below, the editor brings you the daily management methods for black pigs. Let's take a look!

1. Feeding Management

There are certain requirements for feeding black pigs. There are many kinds of feed for black pigs, but during artificial farming, the nutritional proportion in the feed should be increased as much as possible. To ensure healthy growth of black pigs and improve the meat quality of black pigs, the main feed is cornmeal, rice grain and various green grasses and vegetable leaves, which not only meets the nutritional needs of black pig growth but also effectively supplements water. However, when feeding, we should raise them separately according to the age and body size of the black pigs to prevent scrambling for food. Pay attention to the amount of feed and do not overfeed, to prevent black pigs from eating too much, which can lead to indigestion and gastrointestinal diseases.

2. Breeding Management ⟧7⟧During the period when boars are in estrus and breeding, in order to ensure continuous estrus, appropriate fruits and eggs can be added to the feed. Encourage the boars to move, strengthen their physique, and improve sperm vitality. The exercise time should be controlled at about 30 minutes. When the temperature is too high, exercise is not suitable, to avoid heatstroke in boars. Observe the condition of sows. When redness and swelling around the reproductive organs are found along with fluid, it means the sow is in estrus, and then breeding work can begin. One boar can mate with multiple sows, and the breeding time should be controlled at about 24 hours. In order to improve the fertilization and conception rate of sows, a second mating should be carried out after 10-12 hours.

During the boar's estrus and mating period, to ensure the boar continues to show estrus, an appropriate amount of fruit and eggs can be added to the feed. Encourage the boar to exercise to strengthen its physique and improve sperm vitality; keep exercise time to around 30 minutes, and avoid exercise when the temperature is too high to prevent heatstroke in the boar. Observe the sow's condition: when redness and swelling around the genitals are found along with fluid, it means the sow is in estrus, and mating work can begin. One boar can mate with multiple sows; keep the mating time to around 24 hours, and to improve the sow's fertilization and conception rate, a second mating should be carried out after 10-12 hours.

3. Gestation Management ⟧9⟧The gestation period of sows is about 4 months. Sows at this stage are relatively fragile and require strengthened management, with an increased nutritional proportion in feed to promote embryonic development. In the early stage of production, our management is mainly focused on protecting the fetus, preventing pregnant pigs from being squeezed or bumped, and they should be raised in isolation. Fatter sows should have their food intake reduced, while those with insufficient body condition should have protein added to the feed and a higher proportion of concentrated feed. After production, good piglet management should be carried out. At this time, the amount of feed should be increased to restore the sow's strength, replenish the nutrients lost due to production, ensure normal nursing, and improve the survival rate of piglets.

The sow's gestation period is about 4 months. During this stage the sow is relatively fragile, so we need to strengthen management, increase the nutritional ratio of the feed, and promote embryonic development. In the early stage of production, our management is mainly focused on maintaining the pregnancy, preventing the pregnant sow from being squeezed or bumped; it should be kept isolated for rearing, sows that are too fat should have their feed reduced, and sows that are not fat enough should have protein added to the feed to increase the proportion of concentrate. After production, good piglet management must be done; at this time the amount of feed should be increased to restore the sow's strength, replenish the nutrients lost due to production, ensure normal nursing, and improve the piglets' survival rate.

4. Pigsty Hygiene ⟧11⟧Pigsty hygiene is very important for black pigs. During the farming process, we should disinfect regularly, clean the pigsty every day, and remove pig manure. Do a good job in immunization, regular deworming, and stomach washing and stomach strengthening for black pigs. Also strengthen the temperature and humidity management of the pigsty. The suitable growth temperature for black pigs is about 20 degrees, and the humidity should be maintained at about 58%. If management is not done well, black pigs are prone to stress reactions, such as heatstroke and water shortage. Therefore, while doing a good job in pigsty hygiene, we should also do well in temperature and humidity and other aspects to create a good environment for black pig growth.

Pig house hygiene is very important for black pigs. During the breeding process we must disinfect regularly, clean the pig house every day, and remove pig manure. Do a good job of immunization, regular deworming, and stomach washing and stomach strengthening for the black pigs. Also strengthen temperature and humidity management in the pig house: the suitable growth temperature for black pigs is around 20 degrees, and the humidity should be kept at around 58%. If management is not done well, black pigs are prone to stress reactions, such as heatstroke and dehydration. So while doing a good job of pig house hygiene, we must also do well in temperature, humidity and other aspects to create a good environment for the growth of black pigs.

The above is a brief introduction to the daily management methods for black pig farming. Black pig farming is a little different from domestic pig farming. Everyone should not use domestic pig farming methods to raise black pigs, otherwise it may cause some unexpected problems. That is all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only.
