How to Keep Guppies? Correct Breeding Methods and Precautions
The guppy is a common fish species in tropical regions. Just like its name, it has an outstanding body shape and brilliant body colors, with extremely high ornamental value, and is loved by many enthusiasts. Because the price is relatively affordable and the market prospects are good, many people breed them to achieve prosperity. So how should guppies be kept? Let's take a look.

1. Water Quality
Fish keeping cannot be separated from water, and water is the key point of fish keeping. Guppies have strong adaptability, so tap water can be used for breeding. However, the tap water should be left to stand for 3-5 days, and after the chlorine in the water is fully released, the water should be disinfected before being added. Then add nitrifying bacteria, use some fish and shrimp as food for the nitrifying bacteria, so that they grow and reproduce, and continue oxygenating for 24 hours. During breeding, the quality of the water affects the growth of guppies, so water quality control must be done well. Once the water quality deteriorates, the water must be changed in time.
2. Water Temperature
Guppies are a typical tropical fish species and like a warm environment, so the water temperature must also be well controlled. They usually live in water at 18-24 degrees. Therefore, during breeding, if it is small-scale, a breeding shed can be built or they can be placed indoors, which can meet their normal growth needs. If breeding outdoors, heating measures should be taken during low-temperature periods to raise the water temperature so that they can grow normally. It is best to control the water temperature at 22 degrees, which can promote the activity of guppies and strengthen their resistance.
3. Bait
Guppies are omnivorous fish. Currently, baits on the market are mainly divided into artificial feed and live bait. Among them, there are many types of artificial feed, so it is best to choose live bait when breeding. For live bait, it is best to choose tubifex worms, because tubifex worms have high nutritional value and strong vitality, can survive for a long time, and can promote guppies to eat and accelerate their growth. In addition, they can also be used as medicated bait. First feed them medicine, then give them to guppies to eat, and the effect is excellent.
4. Feeding
Feeding is also a technical task. If they are newly born fry, it is not recommended to feed them on the first day, because guppies rely on the nutrients carried from the mother's body for absorption, and then are fed on the second day. The first feeding is to open their mouths. You can wrap egg yolk in gauze and squeeze the yolk out, which is not only easy, but of course you can also directly feed Artemia larvae. One thing to note is that when the fry have not yet been distinguished as male or female, do not feed high-protein food. Adult fish like every kind of feed relatively well, but do not feed one kind of feed for a long time, so as not to cause nutritional imbalance and affect their growth.
