Problems in the pig farming process

Pig farming has a very long history in China, and pork has become an indispensable meat in our daily lives. At present, China's pig farming area can be considered the largest among all farming projects, and pig farming is not only simple but also profitable. It has helped many people escape poverty and become wealthy, but many people have certain problems when raising pigs. Today, the editor brings you some of the problems that exist in the pig farming process. Let's take a look!

1. Feed selection

Pigs go through many different growth stages, and their requirements for feed change accordingly at each stage. Many people fail to choose the correct feed, resulting in pigs of very ordinary quality. Especially during the fattening period of pigs, the demand for nutrition is relatively high. Many people feed fattening feed during the nursery stage. Although it appears to save on feed costs, it does not meet the pigs' feed needs during the fattening period. Instead, it prolongs the pigs' growth period and wastes feed.

2. Feed quantity

The nutritional combination of feed is very important, and a pig's appetite changes with the seasons. Many people do not understand the pig's appetite requirements and feed blindly. For example, in a high-temperature summer environment, a pig's food intake is relatively small, and at this time only the nutrients in the feed need to be increased. In winter, when the temperature is lower, the amount of feed should be increased; blindly increasing the nutrient concentration is not advisable. Therefore, when feeding, we should appropriately increase or decrease the amount of feed according to changes in the weather.

3. Feeding method

Although the feeding method is relatively simple for pig farming, it is also the problem most easily overlooked by most people. For example, during feeding, feed may spill out of the trough and leak into the pig manure pit, causing the feed quality to deteriorate and become contaminated. After pigs eat it by mistake, their immunity is reduced, and they are highly prone to various diseases. Therefore, when feeding, attention should be paid to controlling the feeding method well. Avoiding feed waste is secondary; the main thing is to prevent feed contamination from affecting the pigs' growth.

4. Proper holding back from the market

When pigs are due to be sent to market, many people think that the pork market is poor, with low demand leading to lower market prices. They then plan not to send them to market first and hold them back, waiting until pork prices rebound before selling, while also increasing the pigs' weight and improving farming returns. Although there is nothing wrong with doing this, you cannot hold them back mindlessly, because the feed-to-meat weight ratio of pork is only so much, and any excess will all be converted into fat. This not only lowers the quality of the pork but also wastes feed and increases farming costs. So even though market conditions are sometimes poor, you should still try to send pigs to market at the right time.

5. Preventing rodent damage

In some farms, rats often appear in the pig pens, but this has not been taken seriously. In fact, rats are very harmful to pig growth, because rats not only eat pigs' feed but are also major carriers of various diseases, which increases the incidence of disease in pigs. In order to prevent feed waste and disease occurrence, rodent prevention work should be done promptly to avoid unnecessary losses.

The above are several problems that often occur in the pig farming process, and these problems are also the ones most easily overlooked by pig farmers. In fact, it is these small details that lead to poor pork quality, so during the farming process we must do our homework, strengthen our own farming management techniques, and ensure our farming economic benefits.
