How to grow Kalanchoe blossfeldiana? Detailed growing methods and precautions
Kalanchoe blossfeldiana is also called "Christmas kalanchoe" (Kalanchoe blossfeldiana). Because of the symbolic meaning of its name, it is very popular in China, and for this reason it is widely grown by farmers. However, growing Kalanchoe blossfeldiana is a rather particular project, and farmers often choose to give up because the results are not ideal. So how should Kalanchoe blossfeldiana be grown so that it bursts into a full pot? Let's take a look together below.

1. Targeted soil selection
The root system of Kalanchoe blossfeldiana consists of one main root with several fine roots, so it has relatively high requirements for soil air permeability. Generally, soil with heavy stickiness cannot keep Kalanchoe blossfeldiana alive, so it is best to mix the soil yourself. First choose the soil to be used for planting, then stir and mix it with some organic manure, and compost for about 2 weeks. Then prepare about one third fine sand and mix it evenly, and then transplant it to the flower shed base. One week before planting, turn the soil again to see how its permeability is; if the stickiness is relatively high, continue adding river sand.
2. Staged lighting
There are also particular requirements for lighting. To make lighting convenient, the flower shed should be transparent. The daily lighting time is from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., then the midday sunlight should be shaded, and after 2:30 the shading board can be removed to continue lighting. Farmers should ensure that sunlight shines relatively evenly inside the flower shed; otherwise, if a certain point receives light for too long or is exposed to strong light, this will cause poor development of Kalanchoe blossfeldiana.
3. Reasonable fertilization
The absorption capacity of Kalanchoe blossfeldiana is relatively poor, and since composting was already carried out when the soil was first mixed, there is no need to add much fertilizer until it is later transplanted into pots for sale. In the early stage after seedlings emerge, topdressing is controlled at once every 2 weeks, and during the flowering period it is controlled at about every 10 days. If you want its flowers to grow luxuriantly, it is advisable to add a certain amount of potassium fertilizer during the flowering period, so that farmers can sell it at a better price.
4. Reasonable watering
Pay attention to the amount when watering. Many farmers have experienced root rot caused by overwatering. In the early stage after seedlings emerge, watering is controlled at once a week, and during the flowering period it is controlled at about every 7-10 days. Basically, keep the soil moisture at a level where you can feel a little moisture when touching the soil layer with your hand. In summer, drip irrigation and spray watering should be used in combination, so that in the relatively hot summer the brightness of the flowers can be effectively maintained.
If grown in the above ways, under normal circumstances the appearance is quite good, and everyone can use this as a reference. Generally, flowers are relatively fragile, and it is hoped that the majority of farmers can keep this in mind and patrol the flower shed more when flowering, so as to obtain better profits for themselves.
