Hydroponic Plant Overwintering Tips

Compared with traditional soil culture, hydroponic plants do not need to rely on soil, so they are clean and hygienic, making them more suitable for use at home; and because they only need clean water and nutrient solution to grow healthily, care is simpler, making them very suitable for office workers in the city. Nowadays, more and more people like to use hydroponics to grow plants, so now that winter has arrived, how should hydroponic plants safely overwinter? Qinnong Network brings you hydroponic plant overwintering tips:

1. Place them in the sunlight as much as possible

Winter sunlight is not strong to begin with, and with a layer of glass as isolation, its intensity is already greatly reduced, so we can place them in a sunny spot to grow, and ample sunlight will also make them grow better, while also raising the ambient temperature.

2. If the temperature is too low, insulation measures can be taken

Most hydroponic plants can be kept above 10 degrees. If the nighttime temperature is relatively low, you can wrap the whole plant in a plastic bag and remove it during the day. This is the simplest and most direct insulation method, and it is also very effective. A thermal insulation box or similar is even better.

3. Notes on changing water and fertilizing

In winter, water can be changed and fertilizer applied once every 10 to 15 days. While changing the water, an appropriate amount of nutrient solution can be dripped into the water, but it must be used according to the nutrient solution's mixing ratio and must not be too much, otherwise other diseases and pests may occur. Not changing the water for a long time in winter can also cause the plant's death in severe cases. Each time you change the water, you can rinse the roots with clean water, and also clean the container. If there is root rot, it can also be trimmed off when changing the water.

When changing the water, it is best to first put the water in the sunlight for a period of time. First, it can raise the water temperature, and second, it can balance the water quality.

4. Spray water frequently to increase humidity

The winter environment is very dry, so the plants should be sprayed with water frequently, but the water temperature must be close to the indoor temperature. It is best to do this in the sunlight, and do not spray too much water in the morning and evening.

The above introduces methods for overwintering hydroponic plants from four aspects: sunlight, temperature, fertilizer and water. Combined with care according to the different characteristics of the plants everyone grows, I believe the plants you cultivate can all safely get through this winter.
