Feeding and Management Methods and Technical Points for Hog Badgers
Hog badger farming is not yet very common in China, but the economic value of hog badgers is relatively high. Farming hog badgers can be based not only on badger meat. Their fur is also a major fur variety on the market today. Hog badger farming is relatively simple, but everyone still needs to have a correct feeding and management method. Each growth stage has different needs, so today the editor will introduce some feeding and management methods for each growth stage of hog badgers. Let's take a look below!

1. Early Estrus Period
The early estrus period is relatively important for hog badgers, because it directly relates to their later estrus and mating. After hog badgers reach the early estrus period, they should be fed at least twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Ensure sufficient drinking water in the hog badger house to improve the ability of male hog badgers. A small amount of feed that promotes estrus can be appropriately added to the feed. This improves the estrus timing of hog badgers, stabilizes mating and fertilization, and controls the amount of feed fed each time: 2/5 in the morning and 3/5 in the evening.
2. Estrus and Mating Period
When the estrus and mating period arrives, observe the estrus condition of each hog badger and manage the mating time of each pair. Male hog badgers must be guaranteed enough rest time. Female hog badgers should mate with at least two or more male hog badgers to increase the conception rate of female hog badgers. Each mating session must not be shorter than 10 hours. Also control the continuous mating time of male hog badgers to around 4 days to prevent male hog badgers from becoming physically exhausted. During mating, provide sufficient water, try to avoid visits by outsiders, and keep the area around the hog badger house quiet. Take good anti-escape measures for the cages and houses, increase the frequency of feed feeding, and supplement sufficient nutrition.
3. Fat Storage Period
The fat storage period is the key period for hog badgers to increase their body weight and fat reserves. At this time, we should strengthen the nutrition in the feed and increase the frequency of feed feeding. Compared with the early estrus period, one additional feed feeding can be added at noon. The feed feeding ratio in the morning, noon and evening is roughly 3:2:5. The choice of feed is also very important. At this stage, hog badgers should be supplemented with high-calorie feed, such as potatoes, carrots, etc. Do not feed too little; let the hog badgers eat until they stop eating. Then also provide enough drinking water to ensure healthy growth of hog badgers and enhance meat quality.
4. Overwintering Period
Although the overwintering period is not a particular growth stage of hog badgers, management during this period is also very important, because hog badgers are a hibernating animal. However, artificially farmed hog badgers will not hibernate, so during the overwintering period everyone needs to do good management work for hog badgers. During the overwintering period, the feeding frequency can be appropriately reduced. Water is a necessary substance for the growth of hog badgers, and the water temperature must not be too low. The most important thing is still to do good cold-proof and warmth-preserving work for hog badgers, regularly replace the bedding straw in the hog badger house, and prevent hog badgers from being in an overly humid environment, freezing and catching cold.
The above is the editor's brief introduction to each growth stage of hog badgers. In fact, whether it is hog badgers or other farming projects, feeding and management are the most important parts of the farming process. There is also disease prevention and control. Although the incidence rate of hog badgers is low and they are easy to treat, everyone still needs to do good prevention work. After all, illness will still have a certain impact on the growth of hog badgers. That is all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only, and I hope it can be helpful to everyone.
