A Detailed Guide to Kaluga Sturgeon Farming Techniques and Management Methods
The kaluga sturgeon is a type of sturgeon, large in size, with the characteristics of a long lifespan, a big body, a large food intake and great strength. It is known as the "giant panda in the water" and also enjoys the reputation of "king of freshwater fish". Its meat is delicious and boneless, and it is deeply loved by consumers. Come and take a look at the kaluga sturgeon farming techniques with the editor below.

1. Farming conditions
The kaluga sturgeon is relatively large in size, so when farming it artificially the pond must be large, and the water level must also be deep. Generally the water level should be maintained at 2-3 m, and the water quality is required to be clear and good. The dissolved oxygen in the water body should be 5 mg per liter. During farming, an aerator must also be prepared to supplement the dissolved oxygen in the water body in sufficient amounts, so as to avoid the phenomenon of death from oxygen deficiency. A feeding platform should also be built to make feeding convenient.
2. Pond clearing and disinfection
Before farming, the first thing to do is pond clearing and disinfection. Pond clearing and disinfection must last 10-20 days before fry can be stocked for rearing. First, the water level should be lowered to 60-80 cm, then lime mixed with water should be splashed over the whole pond. This can eliminate harmful organisms in the pond. After disinfection for 3-4 days, drain the pond water completely. Then let water in, and use tea cake for disinfection. The remaining tea bran from disinfection can be used as fertilizer. Half a month before stocking the fry, a chlorine-containing disinfectant can be spread for disinfection. After such all-round disinfection, the fry can be stocked.
3. Stocking the fry
Before stocking the fry, the first thing to do is select the fry. Choose fry that are healthy and disease-free, vigorous and have a large food intake. The body length must reach more than 20 m, and the overall size difference of the fry should not exceed 5 cm, so as to make later rearing and management convenient. The timing of stocking the fry is extremely important. Not only must the water temperature be considered, but the time to market must also be considered. Before stocking, first place the fry with water in a container, then carry out continuous aeration. Add table salt to the container so that the salt concentration of the water in the container reaches 2%. After soaking for 10-20 minutes, stock the fry. This can increase the survival rate and kill the pathogenic microorganisms carried on the surface of the fry, reducing the occurrence of disease. Generally, 400-600 fry are stocked per mu.
4. Feed feeding
When the fry have just been put into the pond, they have not yet formed a fixed feeding point, so domestication must be carried out first. The feed can be placed on the feeding platform. This can both form a fixed feeding point and improve feed utilization. When feeding, adhere to the principle of small amounts and frequent feeding. The feed must suit the palatability of the kaluga sturgeon. Generally, a feed particle size about half the size of the fish's mouth is best. The feeding amount is 3% of the total body weight of the fish, fed 3-4 times a day. The feeding amount can be adjusted according to the actual situation.
