Key Points and Methods of Large Yellow Croaker Aquaculture Technology Explained
The large yellow croaker, also known as yellow croaker, king croaker, or large yellow flower fish, is golden all over and extremely easy to identify. It is one of the traditional four major marine products and a major economic fish species in China's coastal waters. Its flesh is delicious and highly nutritious, and its swim bladder can be made into fish glue, which has a hemostatic effect, making it deeply loved by consumers. After many years of practice in China, its aquaculture technology has also become relatively mature. Let's take a look at its aquaculture technology below.

1. Aquaculture Conditions
Pond aquaculture can be chosen. The pond should be close to a water source, with convenient drainage and irrigation, and be able to change water every day. The pond area depends on the scale of aquaculture, and the pond should be 2-3 m deep. The transparency of the pond water should be above half a meter, the water temperature should preferably be maintained at 8-28°C, the dissolved oxygen should be maintained above 5 ml per liter, and the pond water should be slightly alkaline. Before stocking, pond clearing and disinfection work should be carried out to eliminate harmful bacteria and microorganisms in the pond. First, then add water to 10-20 cm, and splash quicklime over the whole pond. Generally, 100-150 kg of quicklime is splashed per mu. One week after splashing, drain and refill the water.
2. Seedling Release
The time for releasing seedlings is in mid-to-late April or early May, when the water temperature is suitable for the growth of fry. When releasing seedlings, attention should be paid to the requirement that the fish species specifications be neat and consistent, which is conducive to management. If the specifications differ too much, it will cause scrambling for food, which is unfavorable for feeding management. Generally, the specification of fry is 100 g per fish, and the stocking density is controlled at about 500-700 fish per mu. Before stocking, it is best to carry out a period of temporary rearing so that they can adapt to the new environment and avoid unnecessary losses.
3. Feed Feeding
During the juvenile stage, the large yellow croaker mainly feeds on zooplankton such as copepods, mysid shrimp, and krill, while adult fish mainly feed on fish or shrimp and crab crustaceans. Artificial aquaculture generally chooses frozen upper-layer fish as the main feed, paired with other bait. The frozen fish is cut into suitably sized fish pieces for feeding, or ground into minced meat, stirred into a highly viscous ball-shaped bait, and then pressed into blocks of different sizes for feeding. When stirring the minced meat, other nutrients such as vitamins and other drugs can also be added. Feeding is done once in the morning and once in the evening every day. The large yellow croaker has the characteristics of slow feeding and small amounts, so bait should be fed slowly, and the feeding amount depends on water temperature, weather, and the fish's food intake.
4. Daily Management
Do a good job in daily inspection and water quality management. Persist in inspecting the pond once each morning, noon, and evening every day, especially during high temperatures or heavy rain, and do a good job in morning and evening inspections. Carefully observe the fish's activity. If any abnormal problems are found, handle them promptly, such as floating head and pond turnover, which are generally caused by oxygen deficiency in the water body, so water should be added or oxygen should be increased in time. If the fish's food intake suddenly decreases, it may be caused by disease. It is best to change the pond water once a day, and the amount of water changed each time depends on water quality. For example, after heavy rain, there is a large amount of fresh water on the surface layer, which easily causes oxygen deficiency in the lower layer, so the surface fresh water should be drained in time, and water should be injected after the rain. In addition, disinfection treatment should also be carried out regularly.
