Feeding and management of pangasius

Pangasius is a fish that has only become popular in recent years, and its artificial farming is not yet very widespread, because pangasius is an introduced species in our country. The artificial breeding technology is not yet very well developed, but the market for pangasius has gradually grown larger. Many friends are eager to try this farming project, which has a small farming area but a market, but they do not know how to manage it after farming. So today the editor brings you the feeding and management methods for pangasius. Let's take a look below!

1. Feed feeding

When pangasius is being raised as fry, it is mainly fed meat-based feed, and when it grows to the middle and late stages, the feed is changed to pellet feed. The growth of pangasius has relatively high protein requirements, so the feed we give must contain relatively high protein, but the balance of the other nutrients must also be ensured. Start feeding one day after the fry are released, at least twice a day, and the feeding amount depends on the total weight of the fish, generally about 1/10 of the fish weight. When pangasius grows to the late stage, one more feeding should be added each day, and during feeding, the feed composition, timing, method and so on should be appropriately adjusted according to the growth and feeding conditions of the pangasius.

2. Pond patrol observation

Patrol the pond at least once a day, observe the surrounding environment of the pond and the growth of the fish, promptly discover various abnormal conditions and take corresponding measures at any time. For example, if signs of disease are found, immediately remove the suspected sick fish, and disinfect the fish pond. Check the specific disease of the sick fish, carry out isolated rearing, and put them back into the original pond when growth resumes. Change the water at the appropriate time, then determine the water exchange amount according to various factors such as water quality and transparency. The specific water quality management and disease prevention and control are explained separately below.

3. Water quality management

As pangasius grows, its food intake gradually increases, which also brings some problems. When food intake increases, the excrement and leftover feed of pangasius affect the water quality, causing it to deteriorate. So we must promptly adjust it according to the specific conditions of the water quality. Pangasius generally lives in waters with small fluctuations and likes to swim up and down. Therefore, we should make the pond water as deep as possible, pay attention to the water temperature when changing the water, and not change too much water, which would cause the water temperature to drop and affect the growth of pangasius. Control the pH value in the water well. Too acidic will aggravate the occurrence of disease, so control the pH value to be slightly alkaline, appropriately adjust the acidity and alkalinity, and create a good growing environment.

4. Disease prevention and control

There are many common diseases of pangasius, and for the prevention and control of pangasius diseases, prevention work must be done well, with control as a supplement. Because the pond water is relatively deep, we cannot discover them in time, and it is also difficult to control. Control the water temperature well and ensure the water temperature is within the range suitable for the growth of pangasius. Then regularly use quicklime powder to splash the pond for comprehensive disinfection, and promptly remove leftover bait. Preventive drugs can be appropriately added to the bait, and response measures for various adverse weather should be well prepared to prevent mechanical damage to the fish body that produces wounds.

The above is a brief introduction to the feeding and management methods for pangasius. The most important thing is still disease prevention and control. The most troublesome thing in aquaculture is disease. As mentioned earlier, we cannot discover pangasius diseases in time, and we may only find them in the late stage of the disease or even when they have already died and are floating on the water surface. So we still need to do various prevention work well, reduce the rates of various diseases to the minimum, and maximize our own economic benefits.
