What to pay attention to when farming wild ducks

Wild duck is a fairly popular special breeding project nowadays. There are many breeds of wild duck, but the most popular among them is still the mallard, a kind of water duck that lives in reed beds and likes to eat small fish, small shrimp and shells. Many people nowadays do not know this and may even mistakenly think they have seen mandarin ducks. So today let us take a look at what issues need attention when farming wild ducks.

1. Site construction

Since the wild duck is a special creature that likes to hunt for food in water, but its usual resting place is not in water, the construction of the farm needs to take the wild duck's living habits into comprehensive consideration. It is necessary both to build resting rooms for the wild ducks and to take into account the ponds they need. Next, wild ducks have the ability to fly, so when building the farm we also need to consider preventing them from flying away and escaping. At the same time, the water in the pond should be changed frequently, which can ensure the water quality of the pond, and the pond can also be reasonably used to raise fish, which can provide food for the wild ducks and also bring other income. It can be said to kill multiple birds with one stone.

2. Brooding management

The main points to note in the brooding period management of wild ducks are the temperature, humidity, breeding density, light, exercise, drinking water and air circulation in the breeding room. Because we do not know the physical condition of the wild ducks just bought back, they need to be disinfected and sterilized before they can be put into the farm. Next, the temperature in the breeding room needs to be reasonably regulated according to the birth date of the wild ducks. The lowest temperature must not be lower than 25 degrees, and it should not return to normal temperature until the wild ducks are one month old. Then attention should be paid to ventilating the breeding room and enhancing the indoor light with fluorescent lamps.

3. Growing management

For wild ducks in the growing period, that is, when the wild ducks have grown to a certain size, what we mainly need to pay attention to is the feeding of the wild ducks. Because wild ducks are relatively wild by nature, we need to tame them and force them to eat a large amount of food, so as to promote the growth and development of the wild ducks. Generally, they need to be fed at least five or six times a day, but they must not be fed too full, as this can easily cause indigestion and stomach food accumulation.

4. Laying period management

The feeding of wild ducks during the laying period is actually very similar to the farming method for domestic ducks to a large extent, except that the feed is different. When the wild ducks are close to laying, we begin to reduce the amount of feed and the amount of concentrated feed. When they start laying, we restore the original feeding amount, giving them a feeling of fullness, so as to increase the egg production rate of the wild ducks.

5. Fattening management

The management of wild ducks during the fattening period is actually mainly reflected in the feed. After the taming in the growing period, the wild ducks at this time have gradually developed a habit of looking for food at fixed times, so the main feed in this period is still concentrated feed. At the same time, sufficient water must be provided, the farm must be cleaned regularly and disinfected, and finally they should have an appropriate amount of exercise and an appropriate amount of water bathing.
