Cymbidium faberi 'Yushan Mei', also known as 'Xiao Cheng Mei' — how much does one seedling cost?
Yushan Mei, also known as Changshu Mei, belongs to the Cymbidium faberi varieties and is an old variety among them, much loved by many flower enthusiasts. Its petal type is also the Mei type, a fine specimen of the Mei class, and it has long been known as "Xiao Cheng Mei." As for the price, one seedling costs around 200 yuan per seedling. So what characteristics does it have?
The old leaves of Yushan Mei hang half-down and are lusterless, while the new leaves have a deep green, glossy surface, and the leaf posture is mid-drooping. The leaf tips are pointed, the veins are deep, and the leaf texture is thick. It has a silkworm-moth cupped center with a ruyi tongue, green in color with level shoulders, and a slender, long stem. The flower color is pale yellow-green, the small flower stalks are red-purple, the blooms rise above the leaves, the flower form is well-balanced, and the young buds are purple-red with red stems - a refined specimen. After the flowers open fully, some outer petals can broaden, and these may be called superior grade, but the outer petals inevitably lack the enclosing embrace, appearing flat like a board, and even those with heavy veining may have outer petals with a slight upward curl; Yushan Mei is a typical example of the "long fang" type.
