Points to note when raising ducklings

In rural areas, almost one in five households raises ducks. Duck farming is relatively simple and offers high value, so many people are engaged in large-scale farming. Although the profit from duck eggs may be relatively low, the main source of income is the meat of the ducks themselves. Everyone has surely eaten duck meat, and the price of duck meat on the market is not low, so its prospects are still great. So what should be noted when raising ducks, especially ducklings? Let's take a look!

1. Temperature

The various physiological systems of ducklings have not yet fully developed and matured, so ducklings are very weak within one month after hatching. Make sure the surrounding temperature is relatively warm. It must not be too low. Keep the temperature difference between day and night in the duck house to no more than 3 degrees. In the first week after ducklings hatch, the temperature needs to be controlled at around 30 degrees, then gradually lowered as the days of age increase, until after one month the temperature can be controlled at around 16 degrees.

2. Drinking water

Within one day after ducklings hatch, all ducklings should be given their first drink. It is best to add a little potassium permanganate to the water in order to clear the ducklings' digestive tract. If the ducklings are purchased from outside and have been transported for a long time, an appropriate amount of sucrose should be added to the water, and the water temperature should be controlled to be consistent with room temperature. After they reach two days of age, add an appropriate amount of quick supplement to the water to enhance the ducklings' resistance. Do not interrupt the ducklings' drinking water.

3. Feed

One to two hours after the ducklings' first drink, you can begin feeding them. The feed can be mixed with leftover rice grains and given to them. Do not put out too much at one time, to prevent the ducklings from eating too much and causing bloating and indigestion. Follow the principle of "small amounts, many feedings." After two days of growth, the feed composition can be gradually changed. Increase substances such as protein, and gradually reduce the number of feedings according to the ducklings' days of age.

4. Light

Ducklings have a relatively high demand for light, so we must maintain sufficient light during the process of managing ducklings. Sufficient light is very helpful for ducklings' eating and drinking, and can promote the growth of ducklings and enhance their resistance. Control the light duration according to the ducklings' age. Ducklings between 0.5 and 1.5 months old must receive no less than 10 hours of light per day.

5. Density

Do not raise all the ducklings in the same cage. Separate them according to factors such as the ducklings' growth conditions and body size. Control the breeding density well. Too dense a density will affect the growth of all ducklings and lead to situations such as pecking each other and fighting. Properly adjust the breeding density according to the ducklings' growth age and weather changes. For example, when the weather is too cold, it can be appropriately increased to raise the duck house temperature and prevent them from catching colds.

The above five points are the things we need to pay attention to when raising ducklings. The management of ducklings is very important because it directly determines the later survival rate. Managing ducklings well enhances the ducks' resistance and disease resistance, which can reduce the incidence of disease in adult ducks later on, thereby improving the economic benefits of farming. That is all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only, and I hope it can be helpful to everyone.
