The main pests harming calla lily are: the two-spotted spider mite, namely the cotton spider mite and the cotton red spider.

The female two-spotted spider mite has an oval dorsal surface, while the male has a diamond-shaped dorsal surface. In spring and summer, their color is yellow and yellow-green, with a black patch on each side. By late summer, individuals turn orange in body color, and the number of females increases in late autumn. The eggs laid by females are colorless and transparent, spherical in shape, and later turn orange-red; the larvae are slightly red and oval-shaped.

The two-spotted spider mite generally overwinters as females and nymphs parasitizing the surface layer of stems, the soil, and the roots of field weeds. It becomes active from late March to early April of the following year, and causes damage from early May to early October. Control measures:

1. Promptly remove diseased leaves and burn them in a centralized manner;

2. Regularly spray with 40% dicofol at 1000 times dilution, or 20% amitraz at 2000 times dilution, or 25% acaricide at 1500 times dilution for mite control.
