Methods and Technical Points for Building Locust Breeding Greenhouses
Locusts have high breeding value, and nowadays more and more people are starting locust breeding projects. However, because locusts have a flying habit, they must be raised in enclosures. So how do you build a locust breeding greenhouse? Today, the editor will share with you the methods for building locust breeding greenhouses!

Site Selection for Locust Breeding Greenhouses
It is best to choose a well-ventilated and sunny location. Areas in front of or behind a house, idle courtyards, and plots of land are all suitable. The ground of the breeding greenhouse should be 10-15 cm higher than the surrounding ground.
Setting the Area of a Locust Breeding Greenhouse
The area of the greenhouse depends on the number of locusts. Generally, 600-800 adult locusts can be raised per square meter. At first, 15 sq m is enough to raise ten thousand locusts.
Construction and Materials for a Locust Greenhouse
For building a locust greenhouse, the generally economical materials are wooden sticks, gauze, bamboo poles, bamboo strips, and so on. Old vegetable greenhouses, idle houses, and similar structures can also be used. It is recommended to build an arched greenhouse, which has strong wind resistance and a simple structure. The scale of the greenhouse can be adapted to local conditions. The length of the greenhouse generally should not exceed 15 m, the width should not exceed 6 m, and the height should be 2 m, so as to facilitate feeding forage, cleaning the greenhouse, and catching locusts. During construction, use 2 bamboo strips at 1 m intervals to form arches extending in sequence, connect them together with materials such as wooden sticks and bamboo poles to form a frame, and use cold cloth to make a greenhouse cover like a mosquito net, hang it on the frame, bury the bottom edge underground, leave a doorway, and install zippers, adhesive tape, etc. on the doorway. This setup is to prevent locusts from escaping and to make it convenient to enter the greenhouse for feeding and management.
