What are the costs and profits of scorpion farming?
The whole scorpion has high medicinal value, and there are as many as 100 kinds of traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions made with whole scorpion. Especially in recent years, whole scorpion has been found to have significant curative effects in treating difficult and complicated diseases, which has caused the demand for scorpions to increase sharply. Besides medicinal use, whole scorpion can also be made into nourishing foods. Now let us take a look at the farming costs and farming profits of scorpions!
Scorpion farming costs
1. Breeding scorpion cost: each group of breeding scorpions (1 group of 600, male-to-female ratio 3:1) costs 1750 yuan.
2. Site cost: farming construction cost is about 200 yuan;
3. Feed cost: calculated based on feeding yellow mealworms, 3 jin of rice bran raises 1 jin of yellow mealworms, rice bran is 1.2 yuan per jin, 3 jin totals 3.6 yuan (based on a total cost of 75 yuan/month) × 12 months = 900 yuan.
4. Other costs: management, disinfection and other expenses are 200 yuan.
5. Total cost: 1750 yuan + 200 yuan + 900 yuan + 200 yuan = 3050 yuan.
Scorpion farming income
Among 600 breeding scorpions there are 450 female scorpions and 150 male scorpions. Each scorpion can produce 20-40 young scorpions per litter (calculated as 30). Calculated at 2 litters per year and a young scorpion survival rate of 70%, the annual output of 600 scorpions is: 450 × 30 × 2 litters × 70% = 18900.
After being farmed, young scorpions become commercial scorpions. Each kilogram is about 800 scorpions, totaling 23.6 kg.
Calculated at a market price of 850 yuan/kg: 23.6 kg × 850 yuan/kg = 20060 yuan.
Scorpion farming profit
Farming profit: 20060 yuan - 3050 yuan = 17010 yuan.
From this it can be seen that the farming profit of scorpions is many times higher than the benefits of other farming and planting industries. Of course, as a long-term development project, farmers cannot sell all the finished products. They can selectively breed, and the benefits will naturally double year by year. The momentum for farming scale is strong. Scorpions can live up to 8 years and can continuously give birth for more than 5 years. This is a one-time investment with long-term benefits, and an ordinary farmer can achieve a profit of more than 10000 yuan per group.
