Will centipedes in the house crawl onto the bed?

The centipede is a predatory terrestrial arthropod with venom glands, also known as tianlong, baijiao, wugong, and so on. Its body is made up of many segments, each bearing walking legs. It originated in the Silurian period, and 2,800 species still survive today. Like arthropods in general, it is known for having many jointed appendages. Let's take a look below at whether centipedes will crawl onto the bed!
Will centipedes crawl onto the bed?
Centipedes will crawl onto the bed. Centipedes fear sunlight and hide by day and come out at night. They like to live in dark, warm, rain-sheltered places with good air circulation. During the day they mostly lurk in cracks between bricks and stones, along wall bases, and in dark corners among piles of leaves, weeds, and rotting wood, emerging at night to hunt caterpillars, spiders, cockroaches, and so on. If the bed environment is suitable for centipedes to live, it may cause centipedes to crawl onto the bed.
What should you do if there are centipedes at home?
1. Buy pyrethrin (available at pharmacies) and sprinkle some in places where centipedes frequently appear, and also sprinkle some at drain entrances.
2. Buy insecticide tablets and fumigate in an enclosed space, and pour realgar mixed with liquor into the drains.
3. Remove plants such as ivy outside the windows.
4. Sprinkle lime powder at doorways and windows and in other places where centipedes may crawl in.
5. Fumigate the room with mugwort.
6. Realgar water or a diluted solution of dichlorvos is effective against centipedes. After spraying the floor and corners in the house, keep the doors and windows closed for at least half a day.
How can you prevent centipedes from entering the house?
1. Keep the living room dry and open the windows often for ventilation. If water vapor cannot be reduced through doors and windows, use desiccants such as quicklime to dehumidify, or use an air dryer to dehumidify.
2. Centipedes like to live close to the ground and often hide in burrows or cracks. Once you find that centipedes have entered the house, tidy up the clutter indoors. Do not leave objects scattered all over the floor, and try not to let small gaps form between clutter and the ground, so as not to give centipedes a place to hide.
3. Centipedes often enter the house because the surrounding environment is humid and suitable for them to live in. In some cases they invade human dwellings intentionally or unintentionally. Therefore, flower beds should be planned and arranged as far away from doors, windows, and wall bases as possible, and clutter should not be piled up right against the wall base.
4. Centipedes are creatures active at night and often enter the house through gaps such as door cracks, window cracks, and wall cracks. Therefore, doors and windows should be tightly closed at night, especially in hot summer. If there are cracks in the walls, they must be sealed.
