Feeding precautions for rabbit farming

During rabbit farming, feeding should follow the principle of fixed times and fixed amounts, so that the rabbits develop good eating habits. The number of feedings should be about 3 to 5 times, and during feeding, the amount should also be adjusted according to the actual condition of the rabbits. The main aspects are as follows:

Feed according to body size

Generally, larger adult rabbits should be fed more, while young rabbits and growing rabbits should be fed appropriately less. Green and coarse feed should be given according to the season.

Feed according to the rabbit's fat or thin condition

Fatter rabbits should have concentrated feed appropriately reduced and be given more green and coarse feed; thin and weak rabbits should be fed more concentrated feed, with an appropriate supplement of soaked, cooked soybeans or crushed okara.

Feed according to the dryness or moisture of the droppings

If the droppings are dry and hard, increase the amount of green feed, and mix the feed with a somewhat higher moisture content; if the droppings are too soft, reduce the amount of green feed, and mix the feed somewhat drier.

Feed according to hunger and fullness

Generally, rabbits should be fed to about 80% full. Overfeeding can easily cause indigestion, enteritis, diarrhea, etc.; underfeeding will affect normal growth and production performance.

Feed according to cold and hot weather conditions

When the temperature exceeds 30 °C, feeding in the early morning and at night gives better results, and it is better to feed cold, cool feed or green feed; in winter when it is cold, concentrated feed is best mixed with hot water and fed in formed balls.

Rabbit feeding should be determined by actual conditions and cannot be treated all the same; only in this way can the economic benefits of rabbit farming be maximized.
