Prevention and treatment methods for pinworm disease in Rex rabbits

Sick Rex rabbits have messy, dull fur, tear discharge, obvious symptoms of conjunctivitis, weight loss, stunted growth, and diarrhea. They often gnaw at the anal area with their mouths, and about 6 mm white needle-like nematodes can be found in their feces. They are diagnosed with pinworm infection.

Clean the rabbit cages and rabbit housing, pile up and ferment the feces passed by the sick rabbits, thoroughly disinfect the cages, housing, feed troughs and water troughs, and use 2% avermectin powder mixed into the feed at 0.25 g per kg of rabbit body weight, then repeat the medication once after 10 days, with remarkable results. Alternatively, use anti-cestode tablets crushed and mixed into the feed at 15 mg per kg of rabbit body weight, then repeat the medication once after 10 days. At the same time, in view of the mild diarrhea symptoms in the sick rabbits, use compound diaveridine at 1 tablet per kg of rabbit body weight, and yeast tablets at 2 tablets per rabbit each time, crushed and mixed into the feed, feed twice a day, continuously, until the diarrhea symptoms of the sick rabbits disappear.

To help the sick rabbits quickly recover their body condition, after the diarrhea symptoms of the sick rabbits disappear, use Jianqujing, a pure Chinese herbal powder feed that promotes appetite and aids digestion, mixed into the feed at 1.5 g per rabbit each time, feed 3 times a day for 3 consecutive days, with obvious results.
