Profit and cost analysis of raising sheep: figuring out exactly how much money you can make raising sheep

Profit and cost of raising sheep

The benefits produced in livestock farming must have a time limit; without a process over time, no benefits can be produced. Here, the calculation is based on raising one ewe. The raising cycle is ten months. Investment in purchasing one breeding ewe aged 6-7 months: 450 yuan (note: sheep aged 6-7 months are in estrus and mating period). The gestation period is five months, the nursing period is 2 months, and the fattening period is 3 months.

Profit analysis of raising sheep

1. The average daily feeding cost per sheep and the discounted prices of the ratio of roughage to concentrate

Roughage: corn stalks, soybean stalks, dry grass, etc., dried after crushing. Lambs and adult sheep average 1 kg per animal per day, discounted price: 0.20 yuan (in fact, if farmers grow crops, the cost will be lower).

Concentrate mixture: average per animal per day: 0.6 jin, discounted price: 0.26 yuan.

Concentrate ratio: corn flour 50%*0.40=0.20 yuan, wheat bran 40%*0.60=0.24 yuan, soybean cake 10%*0.80=0.08 yuan, total: 0.54 yuan

The feeding cost per sheep is 0.464 yuan.

2. Profit analysis of sheep

During the ten months of raising a breeding ewe, it gives birth five times; calculated at 3 lambs per litter, after a two-month nursing period, and then after three months they can also gain 55 kg. Sold as commercial sheep, each can bring 440 yuan, and three bring a total of 1320 yuan. The calculation is as follows:

The purchased breeding sheep is 450 yuan for 1 animal, plus the feeding cost for three hundred days: 139.20 yuan, plus the three-month fattening cost of 125.28 yuan, for a total investment of 714.48 yuan. The income from three lambs is 1320 yuan; subtract the total investment: 714.48 yuan, equals 605.52 yuan.

From the above, it can be seen that raising one breeding ewe, over ten months, after deducting the total investment, yields 605.52 yuan in cash, and you also net one ewe. In fact, the breeding ewe has already been pregnant for about three months during the last five months, so it is also increasing in value.

The above calculation is also the basis for the common saying among ordinary people that raising one ewe can earn more than a thousand yuan a year. The manure and wool produced by each sheep are also worth about 40 yuan. The epidemic prevention fee per sheep is just enough. This is calculated entirely on the basis of pen feeding. If there is pasture for grazing, the benefits will be higher.

The feed for raising Small-tailed Han sheep is very extensive: fresh and dried wild vegetables, crop straw, and so on. Use an ordinary grinder and replace it with a No. 12 screen. Because sheep are ruminants, the feed must not be too fine; if it is too fine, it is not helpful for stimulating appetite (if conditions permit, making silage is even better, but it requires a certain amount of technology and funds). Half an hour before feeding, first wet the dry roughage with water. Mix 1 jin of dry feed with 1 jin of water and stir; when feeding, add the concentrate and mix evenly.

Calculation of the fixed costs of raising sheep

1. Sheep shed construction. Each shed for 50 sheep: length 10 m, width 6 m, central passage 1.5 m, double-sided feed troughs, trough width 30 cm, height 40 cm, trough depth 20 cm. Floor slope 15°. Good ventilation is required.

2. To build a sheep shed for 200 sheep, according to the latest prices, building a simple sheep shed requires an investment of 20,000 yuan.

① Sheep shed area: The sheep shed area should be appropriate. Usually, the area required per sheep is: 1.5-2 sq m for adult rams, 1-2 sq m for adult ewes, 0.8-1 sq m for young sheep, and 0.3-0.4 sq m for lambs. At one end of the adult ewe shed, set up a lambing room, and the lambing room area accounts for about 20% of the adult ewe shed area. Dairy breeds should have about 0.5 sq m more than other breeds. It is also necessary, according to the size of the flock, to leave a certain area for an exercise yard on the sunny side outside the sheep shed.

② Sheep shed height: The ridge height of a double-slope sheep shed is generally about 2.5 m; for a single-slope sheep shed, the rear wall height is about 1.8 m, and the front wall height is about 1.5 m. For ordinary farmers with a smaller number of sheep, the sheep shed height can be appropriately lower.

③ Sheep shed doors and windows: For the main gate of the sheep shed, when the flock is large, the width is 2.5-3 m and the height is 2 m; when the flock is small, the width is 2-2.5 m and the height is 2 m. The small door connecting the exercise yard and the sheep bed has a width of 0.5-0.8 m and a height of 1.2 m. In cold regions or seasons, doors should be set as few as possible, and double doors should be added to prevent cold air from directly entering the shed. The area of the windows of the sheep shed generally accounts for 1/15 of the ground area, and the height from the ground is generally above 1.5 m. A half wall 0.9-1 m high can also be built on the south side or both the south and north sides of the sheep shed, with the upper half open, so as to provide better ventilation and light.

④ Sheep shed floor: The sheep shed floor is usually called the sheep bed. It should be 20-30 cm higher than the ground outside the shed and should have an appropriate slope (about 2-5ο). There are two types of sheep shed floors: solid floors and slatted floors. Solid floors are further divided into rammed clay, lime-sand-clay mixture (lime: crushed stone: clay mixed in a 1:2:4 ratio), stone, concrete, brick, cement, wooden board floors, and other types.
