How to raise turtledoves well

The turtledove is a creature with a fairly strong wild nature, and even after long periods of captive breeding it will retain some of it. So compared with many birds, the turtledove's meat is a very tender kind. At present, turtledove farming is welcomed in many regions, and there are quite a few artificial breeders. So how can you raise good turtledoves? Qinnong Net introduces it to everyone.

1. How to select breeding birds for turtledoves

Selecting breeding turtledoves is a very important matter. Most people select breeding birds by size, and at the same age the larger ones are more favored by everyone, with those around half a year old being the best. In fact, some young turtledoves that are relatively small in body size, look lively, have slightly messy feathers and like to flutter and pounce are the first choice as breeding birds. Such turtledoves have high wildness and vitality, the survival rate of the next generation they breed later will be much higher, and secondly their antibody resistance to disease will also be much higher.

2. Building the turtledove breeding site

Since the turtledove is a flying species, in order to get close to the turtledove's living habits, the breeding cages generally need to be built at a height of about 2 m above the ground, and some wood needs to be hung in the middle for the turtledoves to rest on. The size of the bird cage depends on the number being raised; generally 150 birds in about 20 sq m, with a height of about 1.5-1.2 m. It is mainly divided into three areas: the feeding area, the resting area, and the nests. The feeding area should be a place with good brightness and should be more open; in the resting area, some small boxes can be suitably placed on the hanging branches with some seed-type fruits to supplement nutrition for the feeding area; the nests should have low brightness, and some grass should be padded inside.

3. Turtledove feeding management

Birds like turtledoves need small, frequent meals, otherwise it is very easy to cause indigestion in the turtledoves. The number of feedings per day is 4-5 times, generally feeding with crushed corn, soybeans and other ingredients mixed with feed. Drinking water especially needs to be controlled; turtledoves drink very little water, so the water container should be wide, and the water itself should be at a depth of 1-2 cm, as deeper water easily drowns the turtledoves. In daily life it is best to feed some fresh fruits or vegetables from time to time, as this can both provide water supplementation and supplement vitamins.

4. Points to note

During daily management everyone should look more at some places that are not easy to see, because the breeding density is much higher than in the wild environment, and some diseases will also become more frequent. Once a bird in poor condition is found, isolate and treat it immediately to avoid infecting other turtledoves. Secondly, hygiene cleaning in this area also depends on the situation; although artificially raised turtledoves carry fewer viruses themselves than wild ones, hygiene is often the chief culprit causing disease.

In daily breeding everyone does not need to deliberately look for a spot with extremely good lighting; the place for raising turtledoves only needs direct sunlight, as this is beneficial for maintaining temperature and improving the turtledoves' immunity. Too good lighting can actually affect production and the turtledoves' daily vitality. I hope everyone pays more attention to these details.
