Key Technical Points and Methods for Black Goat Farming Management

When ordinary people raise black goats, they must not neglect pregnant does. Managing pregnant does well allows them to give birth smoothly, which can save a lot of trouble and effectively increase economic returns. Therefore, farmers should strengthen the management of pregnant does. Let's take a look below at the management of pregnant black goats and the fattening techniques for feeder goats!
Management of Pregnant Black Goats
Farmers must be clear about the seasonal conception characteristics of black goats and the matters needing attention. Teacher Liang Chunting from the Weiyan Black Goat Breeding Base said that seasonal changes have a notable effect on the reproductive capacity of female black goats.
1. From March to May, after being fed through one winter, does have better body condition, normal estrus, and normal follicle development, and conceive very easily.
2. From June to August, the weather is hot and temperatures are high, and some does often show abnormal estrus phenomena, such as false estrus and intermittent estrus. In this season, the conception rate of does is not high, and the embryo mortality rate is relatively high.
3. From September to October, does show normal estrus in this season and conceive easily. Winters in northern regions are relatively cold, and does often show phenomena such as irregular estrous cycles and false estrus. Especially does that often drink cold water will experience reproductive dysfunction. At this time, attention should be paid to the living environment of the does: the shed should be kept warm, light should be sufficient, and they should drink more warm water. For does introduced from other places, even more attention should be paid to the effects of environmental changes on them.
Fattening Management Techniques for Black Goat Feeder Goats
To raise black goats well, you must understand the fattening of feeder goats. Teacher Liang Chunting shared the key points of black goat fattening with farmers:
1. Select black goats with a relatively large body size for fattening. Before entering the fattening pen, thorough deworming must be carried out. There are many deworming drugs for black goats, such as levamisole, trichlorfon, avermectin, and others. Deworming is generally required to be carried out when the black goats are on an empty stomach, so that better results can be achieved. When using levamisole for deworming, the oral dose is 8 mg per kg of body weight. When using “Chongkexing” for deworming, the oral dose is 100 mg per kg of body weight, and the subcutaneous injection dose is 0.2 mg/kg. Three days after deworming, the goats should be given a stomachic; the commonly used stomachic is artificial salt.
2. The fattening of black goat feeder goats mainly includes the distillers' grains fattening method, the silage fattening method, the ammoniated straw fattening method, and the high-energy diet intensive fattening method. These methods are introduced below to fellow farmers:
① Distillers' grains fattening method: Distillers' grains, tofu residue, and sugar beet pulp are all good feeds for fattening goats. Fattening with distillers' grains is a traditional method for fattening meat goats in China. Distillers' grains are a byproduct of the brewing industry and are rich in yeast, glycerol, alanine, cellulose, ash, and B vitamins, so distillers' grains are a relatively good feed for meat goats. In the initial stage, because black goats do not like eating distillers' grains, only a small amount is given, with dry grass and coarse feed as the main feed. After half a month, gradually increase the distillers' grains and reduce the amount of dry grass fed. By the mid-fattening stage, a small amount of concentrate and highly palatable feed can be added to ensure a good appetite. When feeding distillers' grains, be sure to first feed dry grass and silage straw, and feed concentrate last. Provide water 1 hour after feeding. Fattening goats should be fed an appropriate amount of concentrate. In addition, add 0.002%-0.003% monensin and 0.5% sodium bicarbonate, while supplementing vitamin A and salt is better.
② Silage feeding method: Silage corn and fresh grass are one of the good methods for fattening meat goats. High-quality silage fresh grass has a very high digestibility, with dry matter digestibility reaching 70%. When using silage corn to feed meat goats, relatively good daily weight gain effects can also be obtained. As the daily amount of concentrate increases, the intake of silage corn decreases. Although daily weight gain increases somewhat, daily concentrate consumption also increases significantly. For meat goats that consume only silage corn, appropriately adding a small amount of urea to the diet is beneficial for weight gain. When feeding silage corn, it is required to go from less to more, increasing the amount only after lambs have become accustomed to it. At the same time, add 2-10 g of sodium bisulfate to reduce the harm of organic acids.
③ Ammoniated straw fattening method: Ammoniating crop straw can increase the nutritional value of straw and improve the palatability and digestibility of the feed. Allowing black goats to eat freely and supplementing with an appropriate amount of concentrate can achieve the goal of weight gain in meat goats. However, because this is a feeding model with low concentrate and high coarse feed, the fattening time is relatively long. Therefore, it is not suitable for large-scale feeding models with fast turnover and early marketing. For heavier feeder goats, if ammoniated straw is chosen as the base coarse feed, supplementing with an appropriate amount of green coarse feed and high-quality dry grass and appropriately increasing the proportion of concentrate can achieve the goal of short-term rapid fattening. The concentrate formula proportions are: corn 65.9%, soybean cake 9.3%, bone meal 1%, shell powder 2.5%, mineral and vitamin additives 0.5%, salt 0.8%. High-energy diet intensive fattening of black goats: This is a fattening method with high concentrate and low coarse feed. For feeder goats weighing 60 kg and aged 1.5-3 years, the concentrate proportion in the diet is required to be no less than 70%, with a transition period after 15-20 days or 1 month to allow the black goats to adapt.
