How many pigs can one person raise?

The pig farming industry is an important sector of agriculture in our country. It plays a significant role in ensuring the safe supply of meat products. At present, our country's pig farming industry is transitioning from traditional pig farming to modern pig farming. Whether in farming models, regional layout, production methods, or production capacity, significant changes are taking place. Let us take a look below at how many pigs one person can raise!

How many pigs can one person raise?

How many pigs one person can raise depends on the degree of modernization of the pig farm and the scale of raising. If all work is done manually under normal conditions, the normal labor intensity for one keeper is raising 150 to 200 commercial pigs. If the pig farm is large enough, with automatic drinking water, automatic feeding, and automatic manure cleaning, each keeper can manage more than 2,000 commercial pigs. However, if one person handles breeding and raising on their own, many tasks present difficulties, especially when sows are giving birth.

How much profit does raising one pig from farrow to finish make?

1. Sow cost: Calculated at 5 jin of feed per head per day, the feed used for sows is cheaper, 365 days a year * 5 * 0.9 yuan/jin = 1,642 yuan, plus about 100 yuan for epidemic prevention costs or other expenses, calculated at a maximum of 2,000 yuan. Theoretically, one sow produces 2.45 litters per year. Calculated at 2 litters here, with an average of 10 piglets per litter, calculated at 8, the cost of one piglet is 2,000 yuan (annual cost of the sow) / 16 = 125 yuan/head.

2. Feed cost: Before piglets reach 30 jin, they generally eat creep feed, calculated at 2 yuan per jin, and before 30 jin they are basically still in the nursing period. It is almost one jin of feed for one jin of growth. Calculated at 1.2 jin of feed for one jin of growth, the cost for a piglet to grow to 30 jin is 30 * 1.2 * 2 = 72 yuan, calculated at 80 yuan. From 30 jin to 200 jin, finishing pigs eat compound feed. Theoretically, the average feed-to-meat ratio is 3:1, which means growing from 30 jin to 200 jin uses 510 jin of feed. Even at a poorer pig farm, 600 jin of feed is enough to grow to 200 jin. Feed calculated at 1.1 yuan per jin, eating 600 jin of feed costs 660 yuan. That is to say, raising one pig from birth to 200 jin uses 660 + 80 = 740 yuan.

3. Profit analysis: 125 yuan (cost of the sow producing the piglet) + 740 yuan = 865 yuan. At a market price of 7 yuan per jin, the profit is 7 yuan * 200 jin = 1,400 yuan - cost 865 yuan = 535 yuan/head. Raising one pig from farrow to finish can earn 535 yuan.

How much profit does fattening one piglet make?

1. Piglet cost: Calculated at 50 jin for the purchased piglet (piglets of this size are about the same price as larger pigs, calculated at 8 yuan per jin), 50 * 8 yuan = 400 yuan cost. Actually, piglets of around 10 jin are the most expensive, possibly around 12 yuan, but that is only 120 yuan per head, and the cost of feeding to 50 jin is even less.

2. Feed cost: From 50 to 200 jin at slaughter, at most 550 jin of feed is used, which is 550 * 1.1 yuan/jin = 605 yuan cost.

3. Profit analysis: Total cost is 350 + 605 yuan = 955 yuan. The profit is 1,400 yuan from selling a 200 jin finished pig - 955 yuan = 445 yuan. Although the profit is a bit less than farrow-to-finish raising, raising this way can definitely reach slaughter in 4 months. Because the purchased piglets are 50 jin, one more batch of pigs can be raised per year.
