What are the requirements for grouper farming conditions?
Grouper is a medium-to-large marine fish, mainly distributed in coastal areas. Its flesh is tender and nutritious, tasting like chicken, and it is deeply loved by people. Most of the grouper on the market today is farmed. It does have certain requirements for artificial farming conditions. Let's take a look at the grouper farming condition requirements below on Qinnong Web.

1. Site condition requirements
At present, artificial grouper farming mainly includes cage and pond farming. Of course, the natural marine environment can also be used for farming. Marine area farming is similar to cage farming, except that water temperature must be controlled in winter. Pond farming can be done by digging ponds in low and mid-tidal zones or using existing shrimp ponds. The bottom of the pond should mimic the marine area, with sandy and semi-sandy bottoms being preferable. The surrounding marine area requires pollution-free water quality and high transparency, and the pond water should be more than 1 m deep.
2. Fertilizing the water and disinfection
Before stocking, pond clearing and disinfection should be done well. This should be carried out two months before releasing the fry. First drain the pond water, level the pond bottom, and expose it to the sun for half a month. Then add water to about half a meter and disinfect with bleaching powder or lime solution. After disinfection is complete, add new water. During filling, do proper filtering, and adding water to about 1.5 m is enough. After filling is complete, start the fertilizing measures. Apply 50 kg of organic fertilizer, 2-3 kg of urea, and an appropriate amount of ammonium phosphate per mu. This can speed up the growth and development of phytoplankton, so that after stocking the fry have sufficient feed. After one to two weeks, once plankton has multiplied and the pond water is green and transparent, the fry can be released.
3. Fry requirements
When selecting fry, pay attention to their size and quality. Choose high-quality fry with strong vitality, no disease, no damage to the body surface, a somewhat black body color, and good feeding conditions. The size difference should preferably not exceed 2-3 cm, otherwise later feeding and management will be inconvenient, especially because the amount of feed is hard to control when feeding. They can be grouped and farmed according to size. When stocking, also pay attention to density. Generally, 300-350 fry of about 100 grams each are stocked per mu.
4. Water temperature requirements
In artificial grouper farming, the thing that must be taken seriously is water temperature, especially during the seedling stage. The suitable water temperature for growth is 28-31 degrees. When the water temperature is lower than 23 degrees, the food intake of the seedlings decreases, and many seedlings may even be unable to open their mouths to feed, causing the seedlings to starve to death and resulting in an extremely low survival rate. Once the water temperature is higher than 33 degrees, the activity of the seedlings becomes abnormal, resistance decreases, and disease is easily triggered. Adult fish have a certain adaptability to temperature, but cannot tolerate low temperatures. During farming, they must be harvested in time in winter or before cold waves arrive, otherwise low temperatures will cause death.
