How should black goats be managed

Our country's agriculture is becoming more and more developed, rural planting is also becoming more and more prosperous, and straw resources are becoming more and more abundant. Straw resources have also driven the development of the breeding industry. Black goats are one of the most common breeds raised. Black goats have fine muscle fibers and tender meat, and compared with other breeds of goats, their gamy odor is extremely light. They are a goat breed loved by many. During the breeding process, only by managing black goats well can the meat quality reach its best. Now let's take a look together at how black goats should be managed!

1. Castration and separation

Among black goats, some bucks that are not suitable for breeding should be castrated within one week to two months after birth, because after castration bucks will not be irritable and their temperament will become docile, which is beneficial for management during grazing. However, it should be noted that not all bucks should be castrated; some bucks should be kept as teaser bucks. During grazing, the flock should be reasonably distributed. Male and female goats should be raised separately and must not be placed in the same pen, because if they are placed in the same pen, indiscriminate mating will occur, affecting the breeding of the next generation. Large and small goats should also be separated. Feed for large goats, small goats, male goats, and female goats must all be strictly classified.

2. Feed matching

Goats are herbivorous animals, and their feed is mainly forage, with concentrate as a supplement. In summer and autumn, more forage should be fed, etc. An appropriate amount of concentrate should also be supplemented, because forage is scarce in winter and spring. If farmers have the conditions, they can plant some crops such as ryegrass in the fields to store forage for the goats in winter and spring. If they do not have the conditions to plant, they can also feed some mixed feed as a supplement for insufficient forage. For example, cornmeal, soybeans, grass meal, and so on. It is best to supplement adult goats with a little salt every day to improve their constitution.

3. Ensure drinking water

Because goats eat some roughage every day, they digest a large amount each day and need to secrete a lot of digestive fluid. In addition, blood circulation and nutrient transport in the body all require a large amount of water. Therefore, goats have a very large demand for water, and the consequences caused by lack of water may be the same as those caused by lack of feed, or even more serious. Lack of water will cause a series of problems in goats, such as poor appetite, reduced digestive capacity, and serious loss of body condition. Therefore, during management, the water demand of goats must be ensured, but it must be clean, unpolluted water, because many diseases of goats are caused by digestive tract infections. In winter, goats should not be allowed to drink cold water; the water should be heated so that the goats drink warm water.

4. Careful management

Black goats are animals that like warmth and dislike dampness. It is necessary to ensure that the temperature of the goat shed is not higher than 30 degrees or lower than 12 degrees, otherwise it will affect the normal growth of black goats. Especially in summer, when it is hot and rainy, the goat shed must always be kept dry and not damp, because a damp environment makes black goats very prone to disease. The floor of the goat shed should be cleaned once every day, and the goat shed should be disinfected regularly. Goat manure should be removed at least once every 15 days, and the goat manure should be kept away from the goat shed to avoid piling it together, fermenting, and breeding bacteria. In addition, pregnant goats and young goats should be raised separately to prevent the mother goats from crushing the young goats, and the sunlight and ventilation of the goat shed should be maintained.

The above are the management methods for black goats. If goats are in a damp environment for a long time, they are extremely prone to a series of diseases such as foot rot and foot-and-mouth disease. This has a great impact on the growth and development of black goats, so the environment of the goat shed must be ensured to avoid the generation of pathogens and parasites. If sick goats are found, the sick goats should be isolated in time, the specific disease of the sick goats should be checked, and then the right medicine should be given. This will reduce the mortality rate of black goats to the lowest and improve production and quality.
