Grape hyacinth water culture method

Grape hyacinth, also called blue bottle flower or blue jug flower, is a highly ornamental flowering plant from Europe. With beautiful blooms and brilliant colors, it is often used as ground cover under trees or planted in masses on lawns, and can also be grown as a potted plant at home. In fact, grape hyacinth can also be grown by water culture. Compared with traditional methods, water culture does not need soil, so there is no need to worry about dirtying the indoor environment, and there are correspondingly fewer pests. Below, Qinnong Network introduces how to grow grape hyacinth by water culture.

1. Steps before water culture

We can find a glass bottle, then add a little clean water to it, but pay attention to the water level: it must not reach its bottom. Then we can choose some good grape hyacinth bulbs, place them 5 cm from the mouth of the cup, soak them in the water, and put them in a sunny place. When their sprouts grow to 5 cm, move them to a darker place.

2. Temperature

Generally, plants grown in water are better suited to a temperature range above 5 degrees and below 30 degrees. That is to say, as long as the temperature feels fairly comfortable to people, they will also be very comfortable, and then they can grow normally. So temperature is also very important to them; be sure not to let the temperature get too low or too high.

3. Light

Before its bulb sprouts, remember that it must absolutely not be placed in direct sunlight. After it sprouts, place them in a brighter place, with a bit of air circulation and sunlight, so that they can grow better. At the beginning, let it get one or two hours of light per day, then slowly increase it to seven or eight hours. If the weather does not change much, by spring it should be able to bloom. So light is very important.

4. Changing the water

Generally, when growing in water we add a little nutrient solution to it, so under normal circumstances, in spring and autumn water can be changed about once every 5 to 10 days; in summer, about once every 5 days; but in winter, once every 10 to 15 days. Changing the water mainly ensures there is enough oxygen in the bottle; fresh water contains more oxygen and can make the plant healthier. If the water is not changed for a long time, they can still last for a while, but if it goes too long, the plant will not be able to bear it, and in serious cases it may easily die. So be sure to remember to change the water.

The above is the water culture method for grape hyacinth. When growing any plant, do not forget to first understand its growth habits! Because grape hyacinth originates from Europe, it has strong cold resistance and prefers warm, cool weather. In winter its leaves remain green, and summer is its dormant period. This plant is also fairly shade-tolerant, so it can grow normally even indoors.
