How to judge a cow's health through its body temperature

When many farmers run their own farms, they are often troubled by their herds catching diseases. Once one cow is infected with a disease, it will infect the whole herd, causing the entire herd to become paralyzed. So when the herd gets sick, how do we judge the situation? How do we determine which cows are sick? Below, Shuaishuai will explain how to judge through measuring temperature!

1. Measuring body temperature

First we need to prepare a thermometer, then lower the mercury column inside the thermometer to below 35°C, and then apply lubricant or water. When we measure a cow's temperature, we measure it rectally, so we need to insert the thermometer into the anus, then use the thermometer clip to clamp it onto the hair of its tail, measure for about 3 to 5 minutes before removing it, then wipe the thermometer clean and take it out.

2. The cow's body temperature

1. Because a cow's body temperature will change greatly after strenuous exercise or sunbathing, it should be allowed to rest for half an hour before its temperature is measured. Generally, a healthy cow's body temperature will change slightly within a day and night. Generally speaking, it is a little higher in the morning than in the afternoon, with a temperature difference of about 1 degree, so it is best to measure at 8 or 9 in the morning and at 4 or 5 in the afternoon, and then observe and record its body temperature and the temperature difference at different times. Generally speaking, a normal cow is normal between 38.5°C and 39.5°C.

2. Sick cows whose body temperature is lower than that of normal cows generally suffer from severe blood loss, rupture of internal organs and toxic diseases, and in severe cases they face death, so this requires great attention. If the body temperature is higher than the normal body temperature, it indicates that it is accompanied by fever symptoms, and according to the type of fever it can be divided into the following three situations:

① Continued fever: if the fever persists for more than three days and the daily temperature difference is measured within 1 degree, it may be infectious pleuropneumonia or calf paratyphoid and other diseases.

② Remittent fever: sick cows with this disease have a daily temperature difference of more than 1 degree, and it does not drop to normal body temperature, so such cows may have purulent diseases, septicemia and other diseases.

③ Intermittent fever: this is a changing situation, manifested as large temperature fluctuations, fever one moment and no fever the next, shifting back and forth, so the sick cow may have chronic tuberculosis, piroplasmosis and other diseases.

The above is how to judge a cow's health through its body temperature. Have you all learned it? Do you find it amazing? Friends who are interested can try it, and I hope it can help everyone.
