How can sows farrow more piglets? Practical feeding and management methods
Pig farming is something many breeders do, and the number of piglets farrowed directly affects everyone's income, so generally the more piglets the better. But ordinary breeders do not know how to increase the number of piglets farrowed. Below, Qinong Net teaches everyone some methods that help increase the number of piglets farrowed by sows, to solve some of everyone's problems.

1. Selection of high-quality breeds
This is one of the cores of the entire process. Generally, pig breeds that farrow many piglets will have relatively higher yields under normal breeding. It is recommended to choose relatively docile sows, with as many teats as possible being better, and the rear part of the pig being relatively larger; this kind of breed belongs to the pig types that are prone to high production. It is recommended to choose according to the actual breeds suitable for the local area. At present, the sow with the largest number of piglets in our country is the Taihu sow. The first farrowing can reach more than 12 piglets, and with later breeding the number of piglets farrowed can roughly double.
2. Feeding management
The feeding of high-quality sows has a great relationship with the yield. What to feed when, and how much to feed, all need attention. In the early stage of breeding, it is necessary to feed more things that help increase the yield, preferably mainly raw feed, such as potatoes, sweet potatoes and the like; these help the sow ovulate later. Half a month before each mating, it is necessary to properly feed some high-quality concentrated feed containing multiple trace elements. During pregnancy, in order to ensure the survival rate of the young, it is necessary to feed some high-energy and high-protein feed to ensure the nutritional supply.
3. Selection of mating time
There is also particularity in the mating time of sows. In the early stage, the age suitable for mating a sow needs to be around 8 months old; being too young is not good for production. The number of ovulations of a sow increases according to the number of estrous periods, and each estrous period generally produces 1-2 more eggs than the previous one. It is recommended to mate at the second estrus at the earliest, and it will last about three times. The ovulation of sows is concentrated within 1-2 days after the estrous period, and the time of the most ovulation is probably after about a day and a half; at this time, both the quantity and the vitality are at their best.
4. Postpartum care
Postpartum care is also a very important matter; only with good care can the later yield continue to increase. After giving birth, nutrition must first keep up. During the half month of this period, the intake of various essential elements must be guaranteed to be sufficient, so that the reproductive parts of the sow can recover better or even develop further. At this time, the feed fed should be finer and contain a bit more water, which helps the sow absorb it quickly. Finally, disinfection is something that must be taken seriously; whether it is the sow or the pigpen, disinfection must be done well.
Pig farmers all want the number of piglets farrowed by sows to go up, which is very normal, but one cannot ruin later fertility just for the sake of one farrowing. To increase the yield, it is still necessary to improve step by step through management methods. For some yields forced by drugs, the survival rate is a big problem. I hope everyone still improves it scientifically.
