Camellia Blooming Season Management Methods and Care Tips
Every year during the Spring Festival, many people bring home some flowers to add to the festive atmosphere and improve the home environment. Camellias are a great choice, with their bright, fiery red blooms that are very festive. But once the New Year passes and the flowers fade, people tend to throw them away. Actually, if we handle them better, they can bloom for much longer. So how can we extend the blooming season? Below, Shuaishuai will tell everyone about camellia blooming season management!

I. How to Handle Camellias After They Bloom
1. After the flowers finish blooming, the first thing is to immediately remove the withered flowers to prevent them from continuing to consume the plant's nutrients, so that the camellia's nutrients can be used more for new branch growth. Apply fertilizer to the camellia promptly, because blooming consumes a lot of nutrients. If nutrients are not replenished in time, the camellia will have an insufficient nutrient supply. Generally, we choose to supplement with nitrogen fertilizer, applying it once every half month. New branch growth needs sufficient nutrients, and the flower buds that camellias produce also need nutrients, so the fertilization interval should not be too long.
2. After entering May, apply phosphorus-based fertilizer 1-2 times, choosing to apply it during the bud formation period, so that the camellia can produce more flower buds and new branches. Choose a location with good lighting conditions for placement. If there is not enough light, it will cause the camellia to grow leggy, with branches growing unevenly, affecting the camellia's ornamental value.
3. After the Start of Winter, the camellia's flower buds will swell. At this point, it needs nutrient supplementation to sustain its blooming. We can use decomposed organic fertilizer, applying it once every 7 days. After blooming begins, fertilization should be stopped. If a camellia that has already bloomed is to be moved outdoors for cultivation, use nylon bags to cover the flowers to prevent damage from cold winds and freezing. Those that have not yet bloomed do not need bagging; before blooming, the plant has strong cold resistance.
The above is the camellia blooming season management. We should pay more attention to caring for the camellias we bring home. Don't just throw them away when they look like they're about to wither. We can revive them. With some fertilizer and water treatment and measures, they can bloom again. What a waste to throw them away, right? The camellia's vitality is quite strong. If we handle it well, we can even extend the blooming season!
