A Detailed Guide to Common Hyacinth Diseases and Their Control Methods
Hyacinth is a perennial herbaceous bulbous plant. It prefers a warm, humid environment with plenty of sunlight, has strong adaptability to its surroundings, and is relatively easy to grow. It is quite common in our daily lives, and we often use it for home decoration, wedding celebrations, and similar occasions. Below, let us look at the common diseases of hyacinth and their control methods.

Yellow Rot
In the early stage of yellow rot, water-soaked yellow streaks appear at the tips of hyacinth leaves, turning brown as the disease worsens, until the plant dies.
Control methods: When planting, select healthy plants free of disease and disinfect them at planting time. When disease occurs, spray a carbendazim solution, pull out diseased plants, and burn them.
Sclerotinia Disease
When the disease occurs, yellow streaks or round spots appear on the leaves.
Control methods: When planting, select healthy plants free of disease, disinfect the soil with quintozene before planting, and promptly clean up any diseased tissue once it is found.
Gray Mold
In the early stage of the disease, the leaves become wrinkled and discolored. When the temperature is too cold or the environment is too humid, the flower stems rot easily, and spread speeds up in winter.
Control methods: When disease occurs, promptly clean up and remove diseased leaves, and spray Bordeaux mixture mixed at a ratio of 1:1000, spraying 2-3 times with an interval of 1-2 days.
Root Nodule Disease
Root nodule disease mainly harms the roots of the plant. In the early stage, the roots grow normally; in the middle stage, many white nodules grow on the roots, hindering the plant's nutrient absorption, and the plant gradually dries up until it dies.
Control methods: During storage, hyacinth bulbs should be kept in a well-ventilated environment at a suitable temperature, with regular disinfection and sterilization. Diseased bulbs found should be burned promptly. Disinfect the soil before planting, and take careful care during the growing period. Remove dead branches and fallen leaves promptly when found.
The above are some common diseases we encounter when growing hyacinths. Although hyacinths have strong growth ability, control is still necessary to prevent diseases from taking advantage of any weakness.
