What Is BB Fertilizer?

The full name of BB fertilizer is bulk blended fertilizer. It is a compound mixed fertilizer made by blending several granular single fertilizers or compound fertilizers in a certain proportion. BB fertilizer originated in the United States, and rising energy prices promoted its development. The countries that produce and use it the most are the United States, Japan, Canada, and Brazil. The United States currently has 8,000 BB fertilizer manufacturers, and its output accounts for 70% of chemical fertilizer consumption. In China, BB fertilizer manufacturers are currently mainly concentrated in Guangdong, Tianjin, and Jiangxi, with a total annual output of only about 500,000 tons.

Advantages of BB Fertilizer

1. Comprehensive nutrients, high concentration, significant yield increase, cost savings, and strong targeting. Its total nutrient content is generally above 52%, while the effective ingredients of domestic compound mixed fertilizers currently sold on the market are mostly around 25%, and the total nutrient content of imported compound fertilizers is mostly 45%-48%. However, the nutrient ratio of imported compound fertilizers (N:P2O5:K2O=15:15:15) has a relatively high phosphorus proportion, causing relatively large nutrient waste. The nutrient ratio of special BB fertilizer is proposed on the basis of considering the fertilizer requirements of crops and with reference to the local soil nutrient supply situation, so it is both scientific and targeted.

2. Simple processing, low production cost, and no pollution.

3. Flexible formula, which can be flexibly changed according to differences in crop nutrition, soil fertility, and yield levels, making up for the shortcoming of general-purpose compound fertilizers, whose fixed nutrient ratio can easily cause a certain nutrient to be insufficient or excessive. BB fertilizer can be used as both base fertilizer and topdressing. Because of its good solubility, when used as base fertilizer it should be applied on the surface, not too deep into the soil layer; for fruit trees, tea, vegetables, etc., BB fertilizer should not be broadcast, but rather applied in furrows and holes, then covered with soil after application, and for topdressing it can be applied after mixing with water. The application rate per mu is only 60% of that of imported compound fertilizer.
