The tea black spiny whitefly causes obvious damage to the tender buds and tender leaves of tea. Generally, what is found causing damage on tea garden leaves is the nymph of the tea black spiny whitefly, and most tea farmers do not recognize the adult of the tea black spiny whitefly. The feeding damage of large numbers of adults directly affects the quality and yield of tea processing.

The peak emergence of the adult tea black spiny whitefly, and the peak hatching period of tea black spiny whitefly eggs in Qingliu County from late April to late early May, is the key period for control. This period happens to be the spring tea harvest period, so the use of pesticides must be strictly controlled. Control must adopt active and effective comprehensive measures to strictly prevent the tea black spiny whitefly from breaking out into a disaster.

1. Tea gardens near harvest should not be sprayed with pesticides for the time being; the speed of spring tea harvesting should be accelerated to reduce losses caused by adult damage;

2. Tea gardens with large insect populations can be immediately organized for pesticide spraying control after harvest, choosing low-toxicity pesticides such as pymetrozine, thiamethoxam, and imidacloprid, applying continuously 2 to 3 times at intervals of 5 to 7 days;

3. For tea gardens with large insect populations, do not rush to spray pesticides after harvest; instead, spraying should be timed to the peak hatching period of tea black spiny whitefly eggs in early May. Spraying continuously 2 to 3 times at intervals of 5 to 7 days can more effectively control the occurrence and damage of the tea black spiny whitefly.
