1. Main symptoms: Occurs on the leaves and can spread to the petioles in severe cases. The lesions begin as grayish-black spots surrounded by faded green halos; after expansion, the lesions become nearly circular to irregular in shape, grayish-brown inside with dark brown edges and yellow spots around them; in the later stage, the center of the lesion turns yellowish-brown and withered, and black granular bodies appear on the lesions in humid environments.
2. Causes of the disease: It is a fungal disease. The pathogen survives in the soil and on diseased plant residues, and spreads via rain, wind, watering, airflow, grafting, etc. It mostly infects and damages the plant through the stomata and wounds on the leaves. Weak plant growth, heavy clay soil, and prolonged rainy weather easily induce the disease, and infected seedlings are the main factor causing severe disease.
3. Control methods:
(1) Replace the growing medium, apply more organic fertilizer, and improve soil permeability.
(2) The growing medium should be disinfected. A 500-fold dilution of quintozene fungicide can be sprayed on the medium several times, and it can be used after a few days.
(3) At the early stage of the disease, spray a 600-fold dilution of zineb or thiram fungicide.
