How do you prevent rose rot? Please advise.

Rose rot mostly starts from the base of the petals and the flower stem. This rotting phenomenon has nothing to do with humidity or temperature; rather, the roses are damaged by ethylene during storage. The fibrous lignification of the entire rose stem is weakest at the flower stem, which also has to bear the weight of the flower head. Therefore, the flower stem is most vulnerable to attack by pathogens, which triggers the generation of endogenous ethylene. A large amount of nutrients supplied upward is blocked and accumulates here, producing a large amount of heat energy that accelerates ripening and rotting. As a result, when roses rot, the base of the petals and the flower stem often show wine-like rot and shedding of flowers and petals within 1-2 days.
The best way to prevent this phenomenon is to carry out preservation treatment after harvesting the roses, so as to strengthen the growth and formation of fibrous lignification at the flower stem and prevent the generation of endogenous ethylene. If roses are not given preservation treatment after harvest, flower shops should also carry out corresponding preservation treatment after receiving the goods.
