Currently, various types of high-nitrogen compound fertilizer are available on the market, and their common feature is a high nitrogen content, making them suitable for one-time application or as a topdressing for corn. However, an issue to note is that high-nitrogen compound fertilizer is generally ammonium-based or urea-based compound fertilizer, and during production it readily forms biuret; if too much is applied at once, it can very easily cause seedling burn, so when applying high-nitrogen compound fertilizer, seedling burn must be avoided. When high-nitrogen compound fertilizer is used as a base fertilizer, it should be kept 3~5 cm away from the seeds; when used as a topdressing, it is best applied during the seedling stage or jointing stage by opening a furrow between the corn rows, applying it deeply, and covering it with soil.
