What should you do when camellia leaves become scorched and withered? What causes it, and how should it be prevented and treated? Please give an introduction.
The camellia is one of China's famous flowers, with a graceful tree form, evergreen foliage all year round, elegant blooms, delicate and vivid colors, and a long flowering period; for thousands of years it has always been cherished by people. The habits of the camellia and its requirements for light are that it likes semi-shade and dislikes fierce sun. When cultivated in Shanghai and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, exposure to fierce sun should be prevented in summer and autumn, especially for some precious camellias originating from the Yunnan region of China, such as Huangguan, Huabaozhu and Shibaxueshi. Otherwise, leaf scorch disease easily occurs, that is, irregular scorched patches of varying sizes appear, exactly like the problem described in the letter. So why did this problem not appear in previous years, yet in the same location, in this equally summery year, it has appeared? On this point, I believe: one reason is that this summer the high temperatures and fierce sun in Shanghai came earlier than in previous years, and the newly grown leaves, not yet fully matured, could not withstand the sudden strong sunlight exposure, and so scorched patches appeared. Another reason may be a change in the environment. For example, previously there were other trees shading it from above at an angle, so in summer the camellia was in a semi-shaded environment. This year the trees planted beside the camellia were pruned, so the shading conditions of midsummer were reduced or lost, which then worsened or increased the degree of scorching on the camellia leaf surface, and thus more scorched patches appeared.
So what should be done with the scorched and dried leaves? Making them turn from withered to green is already impossible. If they are still left on the tea tree, this will in turn affect the overall ornamental value. The only way is, as time goes by, during shaping and pruning, to gradually cut away the dead leaves in batches.
