The money tree (Pachira aquatica) is an evergreen tree that likes hot, humid climates. In winter the minimum temperature should be 15°C-18°C; below this temperature the leaves easily turn yellow and drop. If the indoor temperature is relatively high, water once every 3-5 days, and water thoroughly, that is, until you see a small amount of water seeping from the bottom of the pot. To check whether it lacks water, use your finger to push aside about one cm of the topsoil; if the soil is already dry, replenish water in time, and if the soil is still moist, there is no need to water.
In winter, the money tree will look listless, and many leaves gradually turn yellow and drop, looking sickly. This is because in winter the indoor temperature is high and the humidity is low, so the plant protects itself by reducing water evaporation from the leaves, and thus wilting occurs. Therefore, humidity indoors should be increased appropriately.
If the plant has already grown large and the original pot can no longer meet its growth needs, it can be repotted into a larger pot at the appropriate time. Money trees are generally repotted once every 1-2 years. When repotting, be careful to protect the root ball so it does not fall apart. After placing it into the new pot and filling in new soil, firm it down, then water thoroughly. Finally, place it in a cool, shaded spot indoors, and after a week begin letting the plant gradually receive sunlight.
