Root rot nematode disease in money trees is caused by small nematodes that live in the soil. They mainly damage the roots and other underground organs of the host plant, and occasionally infect aboveground parts such as stems and fruits. The tissues of the infected parts turn dark brown, appear water-soaked, and have wounds on the surface. The roots become stubby and rot, while aboveground parts show stunted growth, wilting, or death. For control, appropriately increasing nitrogen fertilizer, especially urea, can suppress the occurrence of root-lesion nematodes. Choose healthy, pest-free propagation material, and according to the temperature sensitivity of different propagation materials, select an appropriate combination of temperature and time to treat the propagation material with hot water. Use fumigant nematicides such as Basamid to treat the soil before planting. After planting, non-fumigant nematicides such as ethoprophos, fosthiazate, milbemectin, and phorate can be used for control.
