Is potassium nitrate fertilizer good? How should potassium nitrate fertilizer be used for good results? What should be noted when buying potassium nitrate fertilizer? Please explainPotassium nitrate fertilizer is a two-element fertilizer of nitrogen and potassium, available in white powder and granular forms, easily soluble in water, and is one of the high-concentration compound fertilizer types mainly containing potassium. Potassium nitrate usually exists as granules, with a white appearance. It has good physical properties and is easily soluble in water; at 20°C, 100 grams of water can dissolve 31.2 grams. After dissolving in water and then drying in the sun or oven drying, all the fertilizer remains. This proves that the effect of potassium nitrate fertilizer is quite good. Potassium nitrate is a physiologically neutral fertilizer; the nitrogen and potassium components it contains are macronutrients, which not only mutually promote each other's absorption but also, with long-term application, will not change the soil pH and have no adverse effect on the soil environment.
Potassium nitrate can be applied as a base fertilizer, a seedling-promoting fertilizer or a topdressing fertilizer. Based on practice in recent years, application as a topdressing fertilizer is the most ideal.
Method of application as a topdressing fertilizer: about twenty-five days after crop transplanting, apply it directly below the tip of the largest leaf, at a fertilization depth of 15 cm.
Method of application as a foliar topdressing: to promote foliar absorption, add 5% urea to the potassium nitrate before use, preparing a 0.5-1% solution for spraying.
Potassium nitrate is an efficient, highly absorbable, fully water-soluble fertilizer; when using it, the amount can be adjusted according to the expected yield and the needs of the crop.
Potassium nitrate is a two-element compound fertilizer that does not contain phosphorus; any potassium nitrate containing phosphorus is impure or fake. Its content is 13.5 nitrate nitrogen, and it contains no phosphorus; therefore, attention should be paid when purchasing potassium nitrate.
Precautions for using potassium nitrate:
1. Use it for application to paddy field soil. It is not suitable for application to soil in the rainy season.
2. It cannot completely replace organic fertilizer and NPK; it must be used in combination throughout the entire growth period of the crop, and during specific periods of crop growth it can be applied alone or in combination as needed.
3. For fruit vegetables, apply by flushing as soon as possible after each fruit harvest. This can quickly restore tree vigor and allow the next batch of fruit to mature and be harvested and marketed earlier.
4. For fruit trees harvested all at once (for example: citrus, apple, grape), flush application must be carried out 30 days and 15 days before harvest. This ensures bright fruit color, glossy skin, extended storage period and a high selling price. During the fruit enlargement period, it can also be combined with flush application 2 times.
5. It must not be regarded as potassium sulfate fertilizer or mistakenly applied as pure potassium, so as to avoid excessive nitrogen fertilizer application.
6. When potassium nitrate is applied as a base fertilizer, it must not be mixed with superphosphate or fresh organic fertilizer, to avoid nitrogen loss.
7. Potassium nitrate is a strong oxidizer; during storage it must not be piled near heat sources or flammable and explosive materials, to prevent fire.
Daily precautions for potassium nitrate:
1. It should be placed in a ventilated, cool place, and high temperatures and open flames should be avoided.
2. The power supply lines of the warehouse storing potassium nitrate must be safe, and short circuits absolutely must not occur. (No power supply lines is even better!)
3. The warehouse storing potassium nitrate must be cool, ventilated, dry and moisture-proof. The warehouse temperature should be below 40°C.
4. Do not pile organic fertilizer near potassium nitrate.
5. During transport, protect it from rain and blazing sun exposure. It must not be transported mixed with flammable materials such as charcoal or sulfur, to prevent explosions.
6. When loading and unloading, instruct the workers: handle with care and avoid impacts. If there are damaged or broken bags, they should be sewn up immediately and the openings tied tightly. If it spills on the ground or other objects, it should be cleaned up promptly.
