What pests and diseases affect tea plants in summer? An introduction and control methods
In summer, the key diseases to control in tea gardens are tea blister blight and tea bud blight, while the key pests are tea tussock moth and tea geometrid. Tea blister blight mainly damages new shoots and tender leaves; the lesions are sunken on the upper surface of the leaf and raised like a steamed bun on the underside, producing grayish-white powdery spores. For control, a 0.2%-0.5% copper sulfate solution can be sprayed, once every 7 days, for 2-3 consecutive sprays. Tea bud blight causes the diseased leaves to become distorted, irregular in shape, and scorched, with black or dark brown lesions, generally occurring on the tender leaves of summer tea. Per mu, 75-100 grams of 70% thiophanate-methyl can be used, diluted with 50 kg of water for spraying. Spray once every 7 days. The larvae of tea tussock moth, tea geometrid and others bore into and feed on tender leaves and buds, and in severe cases can eat all the leaves bare; 90% wettable trichlorfon can be sprayed per mu.
