The management of the peony flowering period can be carried out by referring to the following methods.

Fertilizing during the peony flowering period:
The first is pre-flowering fertilizer, applied in early October. This fertilization greatly promotes the flowering of peonies in that year, that is, it is a flowering-promoting fertilizer.
The second is post-flowering fertilizer, applied within half a month after the peonies finish flowering. This fertilization can promote flower bud differentiation and increase the number of flowers, and has a decisive influence on how many flowers bloom and how well they bloom the following year.
The third is wintering fertilizer, generally applied before the onset of winter together with winter watering. The fertilizer applied this time can increase soil temperature and has a certain protective effect on peonies overwintering. For the pre-flowering and post-flowering fertilizers, fully decomposed cake fertilizer or dried manure can be applied; for the wintering fertilizer, organic fertilizer that has been piled and composted can be applied. Topdressing outside the roots before flowering also has a relatively good effect.

PeonyWater management during the flowering period:
Peonies have fleshy roots and can tolerate drought slightly, but they are most afraid of long-term waterlogging. After each fertilization, water promptly. Watering should be done timely and in appropriate amounts according to the weather and soil conditions.
When the weather is dry, water 1-2 times a day. During continuous rainy weather, standing water must be drained at once. In short, keeping the soil moist at all times is most beneficial to the growth of peonies. In combination with fertilizing and watering, the soil should also be loosened and weeds removed regularly. This can make the soil well aerated and prevent it from becoming compacted, and avoid weeds competing with peonies for nutrients.

Disease control during the peony flowering period:
The common peony diseases mainly include brown spot disease and root rot.
When brown spot disease first occurs, yellow-green spots appear on the leaf surface, and then gradually expand, forming brown to dark brown markings. Bordeaux mixture or 500-times zineb can be sprayed once a month for control. Leaves with severe symptoms should be cut off and burned.

Root rot harms the roots of peonies, causing the roots to turn black and rot and affecting the normal growth of peonies. In severe cases, it can lead to the death of the entire plant. When planting peonies, the diseased roots should be cut off and burned, and some sulfur powder should be scattered in the planting hole. When peonies are affected by the cottony cushion scale insect pest, 500-times fluoroacetamide can be sprayed. Alternatively, before winter and before leaf emergence in early spring, lime sulfur mixture can be painted on the branches and trunks. Manual scraping off is also acceptable.
